Sounds like she is grieving herself to death. I always said if my mom dies first daddy would not be to far behind.. Hugs to you and prayers for MIL and dear friends daughter. My daughter is 24 and that would be hard.
If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal. Not to
people or things.

Oh, I'm so sorry about all this. I know it's so hard! I think when people want to die, they usually see absolutely nothing to look forward to, are in emotional anguish, and just want the pain to end. I hope your MIL will be encouraged somehow.

She (your MIL) needs to find a new center for her life. Unfortunately, she has to decide she needs and wants to do that. You cannot find it for her.
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Sending prayers your way.
How much we enjoy what we have is more important than how much we have. Life is full of people who have more than they know what to do with, but cannot be content. It is the capacity to enjoy life that brings contentment.---Unknown

Thank you to everyone for your kind words, especially the hard earned wisdom from fernykins.
I usually read the forum from my blackberry, so I haven't been about to give the thanks and hugs to all that I would like to.
My friends daughter is still hanging by a thread, back on the sedatives and ventilator. My MIL received a letter this week indicating she has a space in senior housing starting mid may and that seems to have perked her up a bit. DH and I met with the elder services coordinator and feel like we at least know the resources to contact if and when we need them.
I am also realizing my pregnancy hormones are a little crazy this week and that's made it a little harder to cope.
Thank you all so much.

Have no words of wisdom. Just hope it's enough to say I'm sorry for what you're feeling right now.
Hugs!
