    Smile Blessings of this amazing world we live in.

    The black panther, cougar, catamount is "officially extinct" in New England. Although in a group of 20 Vermonters, 5 have had a friend see one, and one will have seen one personally.

    Last winter, DH and I hiked up around the stone cliffs behind our house. We saw deer trails, squirrel tracks, and a cat-trail. Paw prints in the snow, 4 inches wide at the pad, not fur-disturbance.

    MIL saw a black, enormous cat in the upper garden yesterday, bigger than the neighbors golden retriever. This is so cool - but I wonder at the life expectancy of our chickens. I'm sorry I missed it.
    Vermont has two seasons: Wintah and the Fourth of July.

    Never saw a black one, but I know we had mountain lions when I lived up that way as a kid.

    The wildlife and fisheries deny their existance but alot of people have seen one. I saw one and my brother saw a pair in the field behind our house. The have a large territory they range in so you probably won't see it often.
