Shaken to the core
While checking my FB msgs this morning I learned about the death of a dear friend. I taught with his wife. William was involved in everything in our community - hula, paddling, starting Hawaiian ceremonies by torch lighting and conch shell blowing and behind it all his laughter, silliness and support of our keiki.
He was in the water setting up flags for paddling practice when he was struck by a privately owned ski boat and died later at the hospital. Don't know any more details..... don't know if I can handle them.. Flags in the water mean stay away there is a person nearby.
Hurts my heart to think of this and how are we going to tell our DD who has danced with him since she was 8. Don't want to go out today - the fresh pain of talking about him. And the senselessness of it all. Accident or stupidity - those poor in the boat need to live with the reality of causing someone's death. William is now entertaining God and his angels - our community will take a long time to heal....... and when we finally are healed and as part of the process, I know that William will always be in our hearts - with a smile.Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

“Decluttering isn't just simplifying your life. It's having a vision, setting new priorities and using those notions to get rid of obstacles.”
— Peter Walsh

Maui, I'm so sorry.
(((hugs)))
“When you get to the end of all the light you know
and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
you will be given something solid to stand on,
or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller
“Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
there are signs that the world is speedily
coming to an end;
bribery and corruption are common; children no
longer obey their parents;
every man wants to write a book and the
end of the world is evidently approaching.”
— From a translation of an inscription on
an Assyrian clay tablet, circa 2800 B.C.E.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

~I'm so sorry Marilyn.
I found this tribute to him but I understand if you're too upset to read it. I read it and saw many similarities to my wonderful dad, who is also named William. Your friend's death is a sad loss for many.

So very sorry you are dealing with this.......any death is never easy....but a senseless accident seems to make it worse.
Glad you have so many happy memories to hold you during a very difficult time.
Thinking of you.......and sending hugs.
