Anyone watch CSI - 4/7/05
Did anyone happen to see CSI last night? I half way watched it while talking to my brother. Best I could tell, it was a weird show. So now I have a dumb question....
It was about men having surgery to become women - right???
I briefly saw a part where men were at a bar (?) smooching on men who had either become women or were just dressed as women (who knows LOL). So if you are a male and you are hitting on a man who is a woman (either through surgery or just dressed as one) - does this mean you are a homosexual or what?
This is not a discussion about whether it's right or wrong - I just wonder what they consider themselves. Just for the record, I was born female and still am; all parts!

Pat, Here's my take:
If you are a man and you are interested in a man who has surgically become a woman, you are straight because the person is a woman now. However, if you are a man and are interested in transvestites who are men in women's clothing, you are homosexual because despite the clothing, when the clothes come off, they are men beneath.
One of my best friends is a gay man, so I can check with him if you want, but I'm pretty sure this is the way it works.

There's more to it then I can put into a post. lol
If a man is kissing a "transsexual" it doesn't mean he's homosexual. Male transsexuals consider themself "female". (as "female" transsexuals consider themselves "male")
If a male is just a transvestite or cross dressing and a male is involved, that's different. Well, in some cases it is.
Cross dressing is just cross dressing sometimes. Not all cross dressers have a need to become female or feel they are female. Some just do it for entertainment. Not all though. There are some cross dressers that are in the process of undergoing surgery and receive hormone treatment therapy, so dress female. (same goes for cross dressing females too)

I think you guys are right, if the person A has has a sex change to become the opposite sex and is involved with person B of that sex in which they changed from, that person B is not homosexual, because they are interested in the person A as the opposite sex, not the same.

That was my thoughts as well but I just wasn't sure. The show was so weird. Of course, you couldn't "tell" if they were just dressing or having parts altered. It was one of the most graphic of the CSI's that I have seen - not so much in pictures though there were some doozies but in the language and descriptions.

Yep, I agree with most of the above. BUT! I believe that even when a man has had a "gender reassignment" - where surgical operation fashions a penis into a vagina, that he is still a man. Even taking female hormones to grow breasts doesn't make any difference to gender as far as I'm concerned. I don't think that we are women just because of out gentials and breasts. It's much more complex than that. If any of those transsexual men were to have their chomosomes checked they would still have all male chromosomes. Thus making them male, despite their gentials and breasts.
I think we should have a third sex - one that is neither male nor female. They do that in India and Tahiti and probably other countries I'm not aware of.
Having said all that, I'm sympathetic towards homosexuals and transsexuals. The legal guardian of my children when they were younger is a lesbian.
I just don't think they're changing sex just because they change gentitals.

I never knew that! Are they people who have surgically changed themselves or just those who feel they are a different sex than they were born as?Sandy

Sandy, they are in all stages, I think. Some are pre-operative transsexuals and some post op. Some are happy to dress and live as women without ever undergoing surgery. I guess it's the same as it is in our societies.

Thanks for educating me Rhoda. I never knew that some countries had a third sex - though I think it is a good idea.
