Finished one yesterday and part way through the second. I am hoping to finish them this week and put them in the mail either Saturday but for sure no later than Monday.

I have to block them and I have never done that before...can anyone tell me if it is difficult? Thanks!

I block mine by setting it on a thick towel, then spraying the knitted project until it is nice and damp. Then I adjust it to lay the way I want it to lay, and I leave it alone. It will "set" as it dries. Just be sure to allow it to dry completely.

With larger items, I'll actually dip them in a bucket of water quickly, as it can take a while to get them damp with just a spray bottle!! (Carpal tunnel syndrome alert.)

In all my years of blocking stuff I never thought to dump it quickly in a tub of water - nope, just kept spraying!! Mahalo for the great save the wrist idea!!

You are welcome, mauimagic, and your wrists are welcome. Laziness is the mother of invention.

Finished the last dishcloth today, so I hope to have them all out in tomorrow's mail!

Thanks madhen! I assumed that is how it was done but just wanted to check. Taking a break and working on the last dishcloth now.

    Madhen,

I would like to know if you sleep; you seem to be doing alot and your job seems to have long hours.

I do sleep, and I actually USUALLY sleep quite well. But I make the most of my waking hours, as well.

Didn't make it out of the house today, so the washcloths are still here. I plan on mailing both sets, for dean and Debbie-cat, tomorrow!

I finished mine last night for you madhen and blocked them. I didn't get a chance to mail them...will do it tomorrow too!

P.S. madhen.... I hate to fold them as one has a pattern in the dishcloth...so when you receive it, I hope you can tell what it is!

The blocking should help to set the pattern. Both of yours have patterns as well, and once they were dry, the pattern really stood out.

Hmm...if you stick with the kitchen theme, there's potholders, coasters, placemats, and oven towels. You could also do napkins or handtowels, although that would challenge those of us who can't sew to save our lives.

Personally, I think it would be fun to exchange socks, but that might be more of a commitment than some people want to make.

Socks would be fun but I couldn't knit a sock to save my life or if I tried....nobody would want it.

Debbie-cat, I've seen what you can do. You could crochet a sock (possibly even two! ) with no problems.
