Default What side dishes do you....

    make ahead of time?

I've made two pies. Want to do the green bean casserole, but how will the onions stay crispy? Maybe I should do the sweet potatoes instead? Any insight? lol

Just put the onions on tomorrow before you throw it in the oven. I'm making a broccoli casserole later tonight and will put it in the oven in the morning.

I gather everything and have them in one area. I will be making the sweet potato casserole tonight. The rest of the sides don't need baking. I will be making the brownies and pecan pie tonight though.

All the baking gets done a few days before and hopefully not on the day of the feast. Our sides are usually veggies (blanched, sauteed or oven roasted) and those get cooked up just before or while the bird is 'resting' and someone else makes the gravy. Then they get reheated (ie nuked) just before serving.

This reminded me to take the broccoli out of the freezer. I can't believe I forgot to do that earlier today!

I have somethings prepped but not put together yet. All the ingredients and bowls are all out and ready to go. I have made a few of the desserts already.

I may have been able to put together some more things but I don't have room in the frig for it all right now with the turkey in there still.
