finding info

I am very interested in frugal living and this site but there are a lot of things that puzzle me. Like all the stuff on the left of the screen--how do I find out what there are? Like the challenges, and juju and other mysterious things. Seems like I will not be able to really participate here when I cannot understand the language. Help. please. Clearly, I am not much of a computer person.

I guess we'll tackle each feature at a time.
under your username you'll see this:
bluedog has no status. Edit
You can click edit and set that to say anything you want such as bluedog is having a great day or bluedog is eating lunch.
That feature is called status. It's what you're doing, thinking, etc.

This is a list of the various other features here:

Let me know if anything is missing. In other words, if you have a question and it's not answered in the thread, just ask.
As for posting a post and not simply replying, you do that by using the button that says "new thread" You'll see it when you click through any forum category. It's on the upper left and looks like this pic I am attaching. Once you click that image, you type just like you would when replying and click "submit reply" when you're done typing. If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. On the top left of the forums (on the blue menu bar), you'll see a link called "usercp" That's the user control panel and a lot of your personal options are in there. When you click it, there's a dropdown menu. The top purple link that says "user control panel" when clicked will bring you to even more options for you to personalize/customize.
