Default Anyone ever heard the 'Dolly Playmate' song?

I had 3 sisters right behind me, so I had dolly playmates, but my dh (oldest of 5 boys) thinks I'm nuts and I make this stuff up.

Did you guys ever hear this song? My mom taught it to us:

'Oh, Dolly Playmate, come out and play with me....

and bring your dollies 3, climb up my apple tree......

Slide down my rain-barrell, outside the cellar door....

and we'll be jolly friends, forever more.'

We would sing it while we were playing dolls out in the yard (we were always outside). Sounds hoaky and corny, but it was 'in' in the 50's.

Well, I was born in the mid-60's, and I remember it. My best friend and I would sing it. We had a whole hand routine that went with it as well.

I remember it slightly differently, though:

    Say, say, oh, playmate,
Come out and play with me,
    And bring your dollies three,
    Climb up my apple tree.

    Slide down my rainbow,
    In through my cellar door,
And we'll be best of friends
    Forever more.

(We thought it sounded a bit creepy and sinister at the end, which is probably why we liked it.)

We also sang the "Plant a Watermelon Seed Upon My Grave" song. We were dark little kids.

Born in early 60's. I've heard it, but another version.

    Hey, hey, hey, playmate.
Come out and play with me.
    And bring your dollies three.
    Climb up my apple tree.

    Go down my rain barrel.
    Slide out my cellar door.
    And we'll be jolly friends
    Forever more.

I think it's like the whisper game where you whisper to one person in a line and it comes out different at the end.

    I love those old memories.

Unless you are part of an internet conspiracy, I think he'll have to concede that it was a real song.

The last part of the song as I remember it....

Oh little playmate, I cannot play with you
    My dolly has the flu
boo hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo!
“When you get to the end of all the light you know
and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,

you will be given something solid to stand on,
or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller

    “Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
there are signs that the world is speedily
    coming to an end;
bribery and corruption are common; children no
    longer obey their parents;
every man wants to write a book and the
end of the world is evidently approaching.”

an Assyrian clay tablet, circa 2800 B.C.E.

    Brooklyn, NY circa 1970's

Each line was followed by one clap and one heel tap.

    Oh little playmate (clap-tap)
Come out and play with me (clap-tap)
and we'll be jolly friends (clap-tap)
    Through all eternity (clap-tap)
    Slide down my rainbow (clap-tap)
    Into my cellar door (clap-tap)
and we'll be jolly friends (clap-tap)
    forever-more 2-3-4

This usually led right into the 3-6-9. The goose drank wine song.

LOL! I loved that song. Thanks for the memory

Isn't it amazing how many versions of a song there can be?

Thanks for going back in time with me, ladies!

    We said it
    See, See oh playmate
Come out and play with me
    And bring your dollies three
    Up in my apple tree
    Slide down my rain barrel
    Into the cellar door
    And we'll be jolly friends
    Forever more, more, more more

You did this with claps and slapping the other girls hands.
Clap, right slap, clap, left slap, backs of hands, fronts of hands, repeat
