I don't think there's much of a nest egg. She is surviving on pensions that die with her, for the most part. There might be one that he can draw on in his old age. But I don't think that's his intent. The poor guy really loves her! He's been in tears a couple time thinking their marriage was over because MIL was harsh with him. Sigh... Her dementia is no help at all. Just makes her worse. I am thankful they are in a retirement home where qualified staff can keep an eye on them. We are 9 hours away, so not much help.
I'm really impressed with all that stuff you hauled out in the dumpster thingies. What a mess! When my mom moved out of her house into a 2 bedroom apartment we threw out 22 large garbage bags (you know...the leaf bags) of stuff. I thought that was bad! Now I've seen this!2012 Challenges
