((((HUGS)))) I agree with what the others have said. You need to watch out for you, first. Is there any reason they can't drive and stay with you for the weekend?

You aren't an awful grandma...you sound very involved to me and it sounds like you have gone out of your way to be a part of your daughter's family's lives. And, I think your daughter owes you an apology for trying to make you feel guilty...JMHO of course.

my mom lives less than an hour away in PA - i would never even expect her to drive in anything that could equal icy snow - or even just steady rain /wet conditions. and she the same for us .

shame on your dd for making you feel guilty .

You did the right thing. Driving in the bad weather is not for us old folks....like others said we react differently. Stay home, warm, safe. The 22nd isn't that far away...your daughter will have to get a sitter if she wants to go out. AND dont' let her make you feel guilty!!!

You did the right thing! It was horrible in Cleveland on Friday. I am an hour south of Cleveland. I left my house for work, drove about 1/2 mile then turned around and went back home. I waited an hour or so & tried again. The roads were still horrible, but easier on me to drive in the daylight. The return home was no better. Having said that, we don't get the lake effect snow that Cleveland does. According to the news, their weather was worse than ours.
Hope you had a snug, safe day at home!

how very rude of your dd to make lite of your concerns about driving... I totally get wanting to see your grandchildren but you certainly did the right thing by looking out for yourself.
