    Default One Advantage.....

of being over 50 is occasionally we get a better deal money-wise. My husband and I had been with the same bank for 30 years. A new bank opened a branch in our town offering checking accounts for those of us over 50. We received a free emergency tool kit for the car, NO minimum balance in our checking and FREE checks. We couldn't change banks fast enough. They even bought the checks we already had from our former bank. Since society insists on labeling us as seniors, I say we take every advantage they offer us. It's our reward for being around so long.

    Hi Joy,

I totally agree. A similar thing happened to me. I was thrilled.

I've always looked forward to getting the "Senior" discounts. I get a few being 50, but not many. Although, when I was 35, I did ask for a senior meal at Perkins and got it. . .lol.

WTG, I think it's great, and I would take advantage of whatever perks I could.

My sister turned 50 yesterday and she was complaining that on Tuesdays our local grocery store keeps giving her a senior discount. She keeps refusing them telling the young cashiers that she is not a senior. It made me laugh.
I guess I should let her know about the banks at least this one she could take legitimately.

OMG, I wish my local grocery store would offer me a senior discount. They should considering how much I spend there every month. I'm gonna ask if they do offer one next time I'm there. Hey, it won't hurt to find out.

My hubby is so vain. Every time we go out to eat, I ask if they offer a senior discount and it drives him crazy, LOL.

Good for you, I'd surely take advantage of that if we got the offer too. I'd also take the sr. discount at the gro. store too
