This sounds interesting. I have never used bbq sauce, etc on spam. I usually just slice it and use season all and pepper. I love a fried spam sandwich with mayo, lettuce and tomato.

One time on Food Network, they had a show about Spam. They said that in Hawaii the spam consumption is very high. As a matter of fact, they stated that spam was originated in Hawaii. Is that correct?
Either way, I really like fried spam.Hello from Sunny Central Florida

I'm sure it didn't originate here - but we are well known for high consumption. The most favorite way to eat it is Spam Musubi. Saute sliced spam (there are special spam slicers like larger egg slicers) in a mixture of mirin, soy sauce and sugar. Then ,using a musubi maker - put in cooked rice first and top with a piece of cooked spam - push out of the maker and wrap a piece of nori (seaweed) around the whole thing. Broke da mouth - so ono (good) - really is perfect!! Wish I could make some for you.

I looked up spam on the internet and Hawaii was not mentioned for originating Spam (I guess I just made that up, but more likely I was not paying good attention to the show). But, yes, as you said, a lot of it is consumed there. Here at my house too. :-)Hello from Sunny Central Florida
