    Thrify Thursday 7/9/ 09

Today will be the un-thriftiest day I've had in a very long time. I'm 700+ miles from home getting ready to attend my college commencement tomorrow.
I'm staying in a VERY nice hotel (at a bargain rate thanks to the school)

Eating in restaurants (might even order room service- I've never done that before)

Taking a Duck Boat ride if there's space left

The last time I graduated (with my nursing degree) I was in the hospital giving birth to DD #1 (who is, herself, now an RN also!!)

That was 29 years ago, and I finally finished my second undergraduate degree. I've sat in classes with teenagers, taken online classes and challenge exams and finally completed the requirements.

My family couldn't attend, but the ceremony is being webcast tomorrow, so they'll be able to watch despite being in Indiana and North Carolina.

So, not a very frugal day, but an immensely satisfying one!!!

    Default Thrifty Thursday 7/9

Good morning thrifty friends.Today is my payday so I'll be driving the 35 miles to town to grocery shop. I'll be hitting my Amish store first. I have to redo my drivers license because of marriage. This just irks me since I just renewed them in March, it was $26 then and now it will be another $19 just to change them.Stinking government thieves. I hope to get home in time to do some weed pulling, I didn't get any done yesterday. I'm afraid to even start because I'm very allergic to them and I end always end up with swollen eyes, stuffy head, and needing my Asthma meds, but I love working in my flower beds. I haven't a clue what dinner will be, probably a pizza(frozen). Then I will have to do dishes and get things ready to go back to work tomorrow. This is my weekend to work. Bleuck.

    Congratulations Mary!

Today is errand day. Need to go to Walmart, buy sale items at our other local store, Home Depot (sticking to my list there!), and the dollar store. Going to buy only the necessities this week.

Making homemade pizza tonight. This will be good leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

Cat - I don't envy you having to do the name change on everything. I did this last year, it took months to get it all done. The car was the most expensive because I moved after I got married so needed a VIN inspection, new plates, new title with new name, and a new DL. Almost $200 by the time it was done.

Hope everyone has a great day.

I am babysitting my grandson today. Together we have worked in the garden. It is too hot out now, and the sun is beating down(too much sun exposure)so he is down for a nap and I am having some lunch. When he gets up we are loading up the mule and going down to the creek to catch tadpoles, throw rocks, and wade. It's so shady and cool down there. Then after mama picks him up I am going to the gym to do my weights. Back home for supper and at dusk I am expecting a friend to bike. Will try to get in a swim tonight also. What a day.Being a kid in the summer is busy business. I've got to try to keep up!!LOL

Congratulations, Mary! That is so awesome. You have so much to be proud of.

I made it to the gym this morning and right now I'm moving into my new craft room(which I'm sharing with my daughters and it's also our pseudo class room for when school starts in Sept.)

Did some normal every day chores and dinner tonight is a chicken pot pie casserole.

    Congratulations MaryCarney!

It's been a pretty thrifty Thursday...so far. Tonight is Knit Night and that means coffee @ Borders and possibly book purchases

    I have:
    ~washed the dishes
    ~cleaned up the kitchen
    ~made the bed
~washed 3 loads of laundry & hung them out to dry

    Still need to:
    ~vacuum downstairs
~put away folded laundry (seriously, I've been saying this ALL week!)
    ~make dinner
    ~go to knit night

Well I got my license changed and it came to $24.50!!I also had my name changed on the electric bill. Now I have to take everything to work tomorrow so they can change everything there including insurance. I don't have to worry about the vehicles, they are all in his name. I still have to deal with the bank and getting my credit card and bank card reissued. What we women go through for our men is just rediculous. Congrats Mary.

MommyBliss - congrats on your new craft/class room!!

YankeeMom - you will get the laundry put away - someday!! Love the idea of you knit night!! Sure wish we lived closer so I could join your group - have fun!!

Cat - you're almost done with the name change junk!! Our electric bill is still in my maiden name 27 years later - they don't care as long as they get payment!!

I just realized what I have been neglecting to do this summer - making lists and planning in the detail that I am used to. Think I need to get back on track to make my life easier!!
