    Default Thrifty Thursday 7/16/09

Good morning all. I'm getting ready for work, I'm taking the last 4 hours of my vacation time so I don't lose it. Since I'll be off work at 4pm I may actually get to do something around the house today.
    Have a great day everyone.

I have to work until 2 pm today. Then I will be coming home, and doing some laundry and dishes. At 4pm I pick up the boys from day camp, and then at 6:30 my youngest has Karate. So I'm going to try and get as much done around the house as I can in the "in between" times! The sun is shining (but not for long) So I'm going to enjoy that while I can! Hope everyone has a great day!

Today, will be housework day. No daycare kids are here today, just dd and myself. We aren't going anywhere. I'll be sorting/decluttering, and setting things aside for garage sale in a month.

We have a garage sale starting tomorrow, so I'll be finishing up pulling things out for it and general cleaning.

If the day stays nice, I'll be taking the kids to the pool for a little bit and hopefully going for a run. Other than that, not much else going on today!

Got to take my Dad for his cardiology check up this morning; hope to be back at work by lunch. Friend brought hot dog fixins left from a weekend cook out, so lunch is taken care of.

~The contractor's are here replacing my 45 year old windows!
I took the kids over to my mom's for the day so it's actually pretty fun for me right now. Just chillin' on FV with the light tapping sounds of workers 2 rooms away.
I feel like I should be doing some task that I'd have a really hard time doing with kids around(painting, yard work, sewing) but all the furniture is moved around and I can't figure out what I can get to to actually do.
Guess I'll just have to take a personal day and read, watch movies and hang out here.~

So far today we have virtually no plans. I like it this way. It doesnt happen very often. My teenager is still asleep as usual and my younger dd is at a friends from a sleepover last night but she is only next door so no traveling to pick her up. Later I will make some dinner and then its Big Brother night on tv so a easy going chilled out day here I think . If all goes well.

    Smile My Thrifty Thursday

Got outside and did 3 hours of garden and yard work this AM. Accomplished a lot (write-up in the gardening section).
Didn't bother with breakfast, NO TIME; just snacked on a few brownies and juice interspersed with garden/yard work.

Avoided the Thrift shop, and there was nothing in the mail. Had a little lunch of some cinnamon buns and a bottle of water that I'd brought along, while I rested on a park bench and enjoyed the view.

    No Spend Day.

Had a frugal lunch for supper: buns with cheese slices, chokecherry juice, 2 *BB apples (*Bargain Bin); watched a VCR movie.
Followed up a job lead, and made arrangements for September.

Reading: "The Old Man and the Sea"
(It has been 84 days since Santiago last caught a fish.
Now, his fishing-lines set at various depths in the sea, he considers just letting himself drift along, dreaming and idling away his time, instead of keeping his lines straight and exact, but his inner discipline overrides this temptation. He knows he must concentrate on his task. "I should fish the day well," Santiago decides.
He follows the lead of the bird above him, which dips again and again into the sea as it follows the movements of the schools of fish. And then it comes--the first few tentative pulls on one of the hooks of his deepest lines. His spirit and mind instantly attune to the movements of the fish below him, willing it to take the bait.)
