Thrifty Thursday 8/24
Howdy Villagers!
(oh gosh that was cheesy, sorry)
Gripey just called from the office with a warning. It would seem that when he gathered up a few peppers from the HUGE pile that we picked from the garden last nite (he was taking some to the office to give away) that he got pepper juice on his fingers. He then rubbed his eye on the way to office and called to warn me.....ouch. Said he got it rinsed enough that it's quit hurting to bad but that I might wanna get some rubber gloves. I had already decided to do that before I start cutting them up for salsa today b/c I cut my thumb while I was using a knife to cut the stems off the plants last nite. I hope his eye is ok, but I'm sure it is.
So as you probably gathered, I'm about to cut up and cook tomatoes, peppers, onions for salsa. Got the jars washed, the rings washed and have to sterilize the lids and we'll be good to go. I think I'll try to get everything cooking and then workout b/c it has to cook for 2 hours.
For me today its:
Make the salsa
Clean up the mess
Wash the sheets on my bed
Workout
Soak in the pool this afternoon
Cook something with chicken for dinner
Make a few phone calls
What's up with you today? Gonna be a busy day at your house?

Good morning!
I don't think I'll be nearly as productive today
I am BEAT!
Last night went great. I was EXTREMELY impressed with my coworkers!
Especially the kitchen. They did awesome! I didn't have to send back a single item and I think only 1 or 2 tables had a slightly long wait for their food. Nothing that was as bad as the hour long checks we had during training week
Except I got chosen to be one of the 'closers' so I had to stay there almost an hour and a half past closing time to clean up & get the restaurant ready for the morning
I didn't get home until 12:30am.
Other than that it was tons of fun. Not nearly as busy as I thought it would be. I only had 12 tables all night, but that's probably because there were TWENTY TWO servers on
I also had the regional directors of Ruby Tuesday sit in one of my tables. My zone partner was too freaked out to wait on them so I did. They weren't intimidating at all. Every time I upsold or described a dish to them, they gave me great positive feedback.
Plus, they left me a $20 tip!
I go back again tonight, so my to do list today will be short & sweet!
~put away the clean dishes
~wash & dry two more loads of clothes
~sort through my boys' school clothes & get them in their closet
~pick up around the house
~vacuum
~take my kids & dogs outside for a few hours

So glad to hear your opening night went well. We've been around when crazy things happen like:
the computer sends repeat orders to the kitchen all night!!!
the main power box blows a breaker
the dishmachine quit
Lamps fell from the ceiling
Oh, all sorts of fun and games!
And the wait outside was 2 hours long. A recent Johnny Carino's in St. Pete.
Go rest Friday will be a bear!

We only had one glitch that I knew of. The hot water kept going out & they had to keep resetting the hot water heater. Other than that, it was smooth as buttah

Well howdy back at ya! And that ain't cheesy, that's down home friendly! Actually I use howdy a lot

So far today all barn and house critters checked and fed, shelled more corn, one load of laundry on the line and another in the washer. (I'm TRYING to make it rain!) Put up more tomatos and just about to run to town.
Still have evening chores and cooking dinner, putting laundry away.
And yankeemom, congrats on the first night going so smoooooooooooooooth at work, and isn't it GREAT to have that cash in pocket? Now remember to stash some of it away in a special fund to treat yourself!!

I don't have enough to do today to keep me busy. I'm really stressed over the custody thing, so I dare not go anywhere cause I will shop my troubles away. My childcare kids are cancelled this afternoon - their mom is sick and staying home.
I have:
Cleaned the bathroom
Cleaned the kid's rooms
Made lunch
pondering dinner, think I will take some chicken out of the freezer
Made some bruschetta out of my overabundance of tomatoes
Washed and dried a load of laundry (too rainy to hang it out today)
This afternoon:
Going to the library to get some good books to take my mind off things
Working on a crochet project
Clean kitchen
Clean and organize my room -- I'd kill my kids if theirs was as messy as mine, lol
Just biding my time until I hear from my attorney at 5 to find out if the ex complied with his court order or not.

Howdy, Back to Y'all ( I do say y'all). It's semi quiet here on the property. And it's my quiet week in the office. I'm working on curriculum of course (it's practically my second job).
We did get an interesting phone call last night from my step daughter announcing she needs to move home. Sure come on down. That will twist our routine some, but we are happy to have her. She is so upset, her marriage is over and needs to have a fresh start! She tried her best, but I'm glad she has made the decision to leave. She can't support a man who won't work, but wants to drink, party, and gamble.
I need to run a load of laundry at lunch and mop the kitchen TODAY. I can't put it off any longer.

Before I begin my chattiness, I want to say congrats to YankeeMOm. I hope you continue to receive lots and lots of tips!!!Last night was a busy night, we had a Scjool kick-off party at the high school, and meet the team night. It was really nice. Today, my DS is having a pool party for his friends, ages 13-14 yrs. This morning, I have made 3 lbs, of sloppy joe, washed floors, dusted, cleaned the bathrooms, put away lots of laundry, and I have washed 2 more loads. Also, got food ready for the party. They are here now, until 4:30. Dh is keeping an eye them until he leaves for work.Looks like rain here. I hope it waits until 4:30.LOL
taking one day at a time, trying to get rid of debt!!

WTG Heather on a great first night! I'm glad to hear about it.
~Found out a court case I was supposed to be a witness for was thrown out, so I'll get to work a full day tomorrow. I'm thrilled to be working and making money instead of sitting in court.
~Make a roast in the crockpot for dinner.
~Got my credit union application to join my husband's credit union to have a better chance to get the loan for my reduction surgery.
~My coworker brought me the local grocery flyer from her extra paper (it has three free food coupons with a $25 purchase). I check out the flyer online, but she said she's going to start bringing me her extra flyer each week!
~Mailed out a rebate form this morning.
~About to do some decluttering in our spare room.

Well,
didn't come home last night -- a good friend of his is heading out West this week to go to school, so he went to have lunch with him and then hang out with "the boys" after work. He'll be home today (Friday).
So I had a nice relaxing night. I wasn't really hungry, so I just had some leftover tomato soup and bread with peanut butter for supper. Then I did the unthinkable... the most drastic... the unbelieveable... I started wrapping CHRISTMAS PRESENTS!!! :eeek: :santa: Yup, that's right ladies -- I've already got half my Xmas shopping done!
I also folded a load of laundry that was drying on the rack, did some dishes, did my Pilates, had a quick shower, and tried (failed) a Sudoku before bed. I'm so addicted to those things!

I know I'm a day late, but what the heck!
Hubby had the day off so we went furniture shopping after taking daughter to school. Drove up to Savannah and found what we wanted but didn't want to pay the $200 delivery fee. Stopped at Lady and Sons for lunch and then drove to Brunswick and found exactly what we wanted $1,000 cheaper with no delivery charge. Came back and picked up daughter from school and then hubby decided he wanted fish for dinner so we stopped at his favorite seafood restaurant and had supper. Now, we usually don't eat out like this, but he hasn't had a day off in over 3 months, so we splurged a little. On the way home, we ran into a severe thunderstorm that was so bad, we litterly had to pull to the side of the road for a few minutes. When we got here to the camper, hubby said he wanted to go over to the new house to check for leaks in the roof since we haven't really had any rain since construction started, and he found a small one when he went up into the attic. I ran over to the barn and got a bucket to put up there to catch the water and then got on the phone to the contractor, who said he would have the roofer here first thing this morning. It's 11:51 am and still no roofer and it's looking like we will get more rain any time now. I can't get in touch with contractor or roofer and I'm ready to
someone's ticket.
