Good morning. I've been up since a little before 8 but hubby was online for a couple of hours before he went to bed. I need to pay some bills, pick up frontroom, sort some more old paperwork, put dishes away, do some reading, fix dinner, and get things ready to go back to work tomorrow. Dinner will be a quick Bertolli frozen dinner since hubby will most likely sleep until 6pm. It's suppose to rain here today but it's gorgeous right now. Hope everyone has a great day.

Finish coffee, first and foremost right now, lol.

Switch laundry over. Pick up meds from Target and get cheapo juice at Albertson's as sale ends today. Drop off garage sale left overs at thrift and take look around while we are there.

I made a batch of gluten this morning and am now steaming it. When it's cold I'll grind it in a food grinder and will make "Gluten Sausage" and "Gluten Crunch" (a high-protein cereal) out of it.

Ground steamed gluten can also be used to make veggie burgers, mock meat balls and patties, meatloaf, and as a meat extender in any recipe where ground beef is used.

I haven't made gluten for eons, so it's almost a new experience once again, AND it's a good source of non-meat protein that is less expensive than meat.

    Let the experiments begin.....

*DH woke me with a dozen pink roses and a card this morning.

*Took DD to the museum. She has a three hour volunteer shift today.

    *Will pick her up soon.

*Need to drop her off at her paying job this evening then pick her up when she gets off. She does drive and has a car, but I prefer she not drive downtown. Which is where the museum is and where her paying job is.

*DS has his last 3 on 3 basketball game tonight. His team is playing for the championship.

*It's my birthday. My DH, kids, mom and other family members threw me a surprise party last night. I had a blast. So I have left over birthday cake to nibble on when that sweet tooth hits me.

    *Tonight is Big Brother.

*Looks like the best birthday gift I'm going to get is finding out the traffic ticket DH got for a messed up tag is being dropped. Yay!!! That's $123 I don't have to pay!!! OK - not the best birthday gift, because I was given so many sweet and thoughtful gifts, but it is still a nice birthday surprise.

It is going to be really hot here today, over 100. We are just not use to that here.
Being that is going be hot, I don't have much planned.
I have to work from 11:30 to 3:30.
I also need to put away clothes before it gets too warm upstairs.
Dinner is already to go since I prepared it yesterday and then my DH wanted to go out for his B-day dinner (was going out tonight).

Time for me to use some of my change jar money to take DS to the fair. The teenagers will go with friends. I pay their admission, but they are on their own for the rest.

Fortunately for me, DS is not a big fan of rides so it shouldn't be too expensive of a day.

Mauimagic . . . I can't believe you are back in school already. I have another couple of weeks and even that seems soon!! Good luck!

    Default My Tightwad Tuesday

Got up early; had only 1 cuppa coffee (new habit, 3rd day in a row).
Picked the rasps; sprinkled them on my cereal.
Went out to pick the cherries; managed to pick almost a full gallon pail, but across the road some heavy machinery activity and exhaust fumes (asthma), finally drove me indoors.
    Waiting...

Closed the windows, and started on some frugal cooking.
Put a roast in the oven; made a cream of celery soup with LO mashed potatoes, broth, frozen celery, frozen carrots (minced), sauteed minced onions, some green onions, some bits of frozen cooked chicken (left on the bones), and 2 bay leaves, milk. Turned out great!
Made dessert pudding from thawed pureed squash, mixed with seasonings, 1 egg, milk, bit of flour/water to thicken, brown sugar.
    Turned out very good!
Made some toasted croutons yesterday from 2 dry oatmeal buns.
Sprinkled them over my soup; really good!
Made a big glass bottle of Green Tea this AM; it's in the fridge.
The roast beef is done now; removed and cooling; beef broth is in the large Pyrex cup; added some water to the empty pan, got another 2 cups of brown beef broth that way. Will set the broth in the fridge to chill, then remove the tallow layer on top.
Checked my head of lettuce in the crisper; removed 4 leaves, washed and spun it out; placed in 2 small plastic tubs for salads; no waste.
There are still 5 BB apples left; must do something with them soon.

Checked out my washer's owner's papers for more info; reading and studying the info.
I just have to say a big THANKS to all of you on this forum who took the time to give me the advice and encouragement I need about my washer problem.
    Appliance problems are my nemesis!!!
I was also T.O.'d that it happened now, to throw off my July Budget, which has been a challenge in itself, but which I've managed to deal with anyway. And now here's the washer breaking down, to throw a monkey wrench into the situation!!!
    Well, these things happen...

I've got some more things to do now, but anyhoo it's been shaping up to be a good frugal day, with lots to be thankful for.
Have a good one, frugal friends!
