Terrific Tuesday
So what's everyone up to today?
Gonna be a little cool here today, low 60's. I'm going to see if I can get a haircut this afternoon and if I can, I'll highlight my hair first to get the frizzy ends cut off afterwards. I've got to make out my DON'T FORGET to take and DON'T FORGET to do lists for our upcoming trip. I have a few other things to do as well.
So far:
Got up
Had breakfast
Surfed here a bit
Still to do:
2 loads of laundry
Make homemade laundry soap
Make homemade dishwasher soap
Workout
Make bed
Shower/hair/makeup
Make final shopping list for Thanksgiving
Decide on dinner (dd#2 comes home tonight)
Sweep the floors
I think that's about it. I'm looking forward to the holiday for the first time in I can't remember how long, since we've cut out the huge extended family feast at our house.......if you knew my extended family you'd understand why..
Hope everyone has a great day!

Morning All!
DH and I are headed to Best Buy with my MIL in a couple of hours to help her pick out a new PC. Other than that, nothing planned for today. The house is clean, laundry caught up, etc... I may get the Christmas boxes out of the garage and go thru the decorations & ornaments later.
Hope you all have a good day

Not so terrific here

Dd's iPod Nano was stolen (from a LOCKED office at school I might add) so today I'm off to return Christmas presents that are no good without the iPod (speakers, cases, accessories). She is just heartbroken. I'm mad as hell. Mad at her for bringing it to school, mad at the little thief who stole it, mad at the school for brushing her off when she tried to report it on FRIDAY!! Now here we are the last day before Thanksgiving break and they are finally doing something about it. The police officer who came by last night wasn't very hopeful. The VP at the school said they have had luck in the past recovering distinctive items like iPods, that dd should keep her eyes peeled and he's going to inquire into the locked office that wasn't and find out why she was brushed off when she tried to report it. So that's a nearly $200 iPod (that she saved up for all summer to buy) and $200 worth of music gone to some little thieving you-know-what.
Other than returning gifts, I need to stop & get some bottles of wine to take to the inlaws for thanksgiving. There's laundry to do, as well as picking up around the house. I'm not feeling very motivated right now.

I can totally relate to how you and your daughter are feeling right now. When oldest DD was in middle school, she wore a gold necklace that she had received for her birthday the weekend before to school one day (after being told not to), and it was stolen from the coaches locked office. Jennifer called me in tears from the school office. I went in and was given the brush off from the principle so I asked to speak to the coach. He stated that he told Jennifer to take the necklace off and put it on his desk and he would lock the office, so I told him that I held him responsible for the necklace and I was leaving to go home to get the receipt and I expected him to have a check for the full amount when I returned ($200). LOL, by the time I got back to the school (no more than 30 minutes), he had found the student who had stolen the necklace, and Jennifer was wearing it. While I was greatly relieved that the necklace was returned, unharmed, I was totally ticked that neither the coach or the principle took the matter seriously when Jennifer came to them about it. I was able to talk to the student who took the necklace and he said that the office was not locked, and he was in tears because his parents were on their way and he knew he was in serious trouble. His parents told me how sorry they were, and said that when they were finished with him he would never think of even touching anything that didn't belong to him. I could tell that they meant every word they said too.
I wouldn't give up on this. I don't know if it's a school policy not to have iPods at DD's school, but even if there is, there is a little thief running around that needs to be delt with. If she was told to put it in the locked office, then I would hold whoever holds the keys to the office responsible like I did. Got results for me, and my DD learned a good lesson that day. Momma knows best!!!!!

Good morning all. Another busy day here today.
Already today I have:
Gotten everyone up, fed and out the door.
Drove DS #2 to school.
Washed, dried and put away 3 loads of laundry.
Swept and mopped the kitchen and dining room floors.
Swished and swiped the boys bathroom.
Vaccuumed.
Later I have to:
Go to DS #2's class for the Thanksgiving feast. Take juice and dinner rolls in.
Pick up DS #1 from wrestling practice.
Cook dinner ahead of time since we won't be home until late.
Clean up the kitchen.
Load, run and unload dishwasher.
Relax and watch some TV, but only after baths and story time.
I hope everyone has a wonderful day. I am feeling very productive this week. Yesterday I went out and did ALL of the boys Christmas shopping. I have everything I need for them. It took 4 trips into the Toys R Us, one to Target and one to WalMart but they are done. Now all that's left is my Dad, my Mom, DH and his parents.

Heather I am so sorry to hear about this. I think don't think you should give up on this either. And I would definitely hold the person with the keys accountable for not locking the office. Remember, the sqeaky wheel gets greased.
Today:
Got DD and Dh off to school and work after making breakfast for both of them.
Went for walk.
Still have to clean up the upstairs, so that we can move drywall up there,
clean bathrooms, start dinner, go to the grocery store, pick up mail and for my mom and check on her house.
That's about all I can think of right now.

Oh, I will hold them responsible. In my opinion, the gym teacher took responsibility for everything in her bookbag when she was told to put it in the office to be locked up (apparently, the gym locker room is a high target area for thieves so this is their "security" measure). I'm waiting to hear back from the Asst. Principal on whether or not the door was actually locked. I'll go from there. The crappy thing is, after today they have five days off. The little thief has already had it for five days.

The school should have been sending out memos and had parents on the lookout for that ipod..right after it happened. That little thief will get caught using it eventually. Someone knows something, I bet they bragged to friends and can't keep it a secret. Hope you do get it back, the school is totally responsible.

Heather, I am so sorry to hear about this! Your daughter is so devastated I'm sure!! I bet she's kicking herself in the butt for bringing it to school! I hope they do find it!
My morning has just been so hectic!
We had some kind of "vague" threat made "towards" the schools. But they don't know which one so they put all of them in lock in. All the kids are locked in the buildings and nobody can go in them. So, I decided to go get them out of school. They knew about this threat yesterday and didn't say anything to anyone. The children found out when they got to school today and my daughter called me. Before that, I ran a couple of errands, came home & that's when I found out that most of the kids were being dismissed by parents, so I said ok, I'm going to get Cassie. When I picked her up, I found out it was ALL of the schools!! So, I said I'm going to get Jay too then!! When I called the first school they're telling me I have to go in to get her cuz usually I don't they just send her out. I get there & the cops tell me I can't go in, they'll get her. Geez! I'm glad they're protecting them though. I just felt better bringing them home where I know they're safe! I had to bring the family therapist with me to pick the kids up as we had a 10:00 appointment. So, when we got back, the therapist & I finished up the "session". Then I got lunch going. I haven't done anything but a load of laundry and my morning & afternoon routine today. And I'm not even going to worry about anything else I had on my list!! LOL
Too much going on. Oh, they have cancelled all after school activities and even the after school programs will be closed.
So, I'm just going to relax now!!! LOL
I hope everyone has a great afternoon!

Heather, I'm so sorry that happened. I know how sad your daughter must be. I think Suzy's idea about the memo is a really great idea. Parents should be alerted. I really hope she gets it back.
Carolyn, you absolutely rock!! Way to go on getting your daughter's necklace back.
On to my day:
Laundry
Fix Supper
Sweep floors
Scrub sink
Clean fireplace doors
Last Minute Grocery Shopping
