I don't see much of a change when I turn off "vampires". Maybe I have different electronics than most people?? Who knows?? I thought there was something wrong when I didn't see a drop so I purchased a meter to read the pull from the electronics in off/sleeping/on mode. All my sleeping electronics didn't pull enough to power an incandescent night light.
IMO that meter was worth it's cost because my time is worth something and I can spend my time in more productive activities.

I started unplugging in 09' and watching a variety of things. I know ours dropped about $150 a month. I didn't unplug washer, dryer, stove or microwave. Nor tv. But I watched lights, ran dishwasher/washer/dryer after 9pm. NOTHING was on that didn't need be. I even took out the night light in the utility room.
Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.

I noticed a real difference when I started unplugging everything that was not in use or turning off the power strip it was attached to.
The absolute biggest electricity savings you can get though is to use your clothes dryer less or not at all. It is AMAZING how much power those things use.Jen

Yes, I DID notice a change when I started unplugging my washer and dryer when not in use........BUT.......I don't have a big bunch of wash to do anyway, so it stays UNPLUGGED for days!
That is one item that is often not 'real handy' for people to unplug. A couple of my friends can't even get to theirs. I am lucky in that mine is easy to get to.....and it does help.
I have always been careful with lights off when not in use.......and don't 'light up' my house at night ---like they 'suggest'........since they aren't paying my bill.
