Fuel Oil fill-up?
Ok, what do you think? Fill the tank now at 4.05 a gallon, or wait and fill it at the end of August as usually? Our tank is 550 gallons, I don't have a gauge on the tank so I don't know how much is left, but regardless, every August I usually fill the tank for winter. Is it just wishful thinking to think the price will go down? I thought I heard on the news today that it might go pass 200 dollars a gallon. What do you all think?

I wish I had a crystal ball to figure this out! The prices of home heating oil is outrageous. I have to make a decision also as to whether or not to prepay for the upcoming season. I am torn.
I know its a tough decision to make.

I'd guess that fuel oil is going to go up by fall. It almost always goes up as colder weather approaches anyway, so I'm sure that prices will be higher in the fall than it is now--not even factoring in the likely rise in costs due to oil/gas prices.

Wish I knew what to tell you, I haven't used fuel oil in years!!! I thought it was bad that our gas company is charging $1.005 per ccf...makes me glad I have natural gas now that I see what you have to pay for fuel oil!

I have been thinking the same way. I do know I will not be pre buying this year. With oil companies going out of business like they are.

thats a good point. I read of a company not too far from me that went out of business and their customers lost the money that they prepaid. That is very sad.

I would get it now...Someone(can't remember who?) posted within the last few weeks that it would go as high as $6.00 a gallon (for home heating fuel) and I heard it on the radio today..also gasoline will be between $6.00 to $10.00 a gallon by the end of the summer..So whomever posted the info is absolutely correct about how high the prices will go..

Oh my. $6.00 - $10.00 a gallon for gas. I would hate to see what this might do in a lot of US neighborhoods. IF prices go that high I wonder if crime will follow. This is very very sad.

I would fill it up now because fuel oil is about the same as kerosene and it keeps going up every year. It's over $4 gal. now it was $2 five yrs. ago when I started using it.
