    Default It's going up!!!!

Darn it, I just got my electric bill and it's back over $100, it's $111.00. I guess the days of having an electric bill under $50 all summer long are gone. Oh and to top it off, we have had the heat on the last few nights. Hubby has had a cold and it has been down in the 30's. It is supposed to be down to 34 degrees tonight. It's going to be a long winter I'm afraid.

Same here Cat! The high was 41F today! Last night it hit 28F. Very cold, windy today and heat has been on for three days now. I do believe it is going to be a long, cold winter here as well.

Ours was $190 last month. It has finally cooled off enough to turn the a/c off. Thank goodness. I figured out the a/c costs us appx. $6 a day.

I just got my hydro bill today and it was just over $93. I did better than this time last year, so that's good. When DH goes away on a business trip I'll do my best to keep the lights and electricity to a bare minimum. (BTW...I think our a/c (maybe furnace?) and dryer are gas. That's a seperate bill.)

Just heard on the news that our electric company is looking to make an increase. Not sure on the details yet - our bill is currently $150/month - with no AC. Our neighbors are envious!!

Wow, I feel lucky that mine is/was under $50. But that is about to change. Had to turn the heat on the last couple mornings, to take the chill off.

Our utility asked for an increase and the public meeting for it had standing room only. They lost round one..........we'll see. They have had RECORD profits for the last three years!

They just had a town meeting because Duke Power wants to raise our rates. Their reason is they haven't raised their rates in like 12 years which is a bunch of bull. They came in here about 8 years ago and bought out our local power company and had been operating under their name until last year and during that time we have had 3 rate increases. They think we are stupid. But everywhere they have held meetings there have been packed rooms and they have heard about it. The news says that the regulatory commission is leaning toward turning them down for a rate increase I hope they do. If it goes up it will be another $11 per $100. We can barely keep ours paid now.

Our's ( Progress Energy ) went up 10% on base cost in July and are asking for 31% increase in January. They just also had a meeting last week. Huge amount of people were there protesting. Progress's guy plainly said the increase was to increase investors interest and get this " to be able to give our excutives pay raises". Now does that take guts or what. Didn't even bother to lie.

One or two articles I read said that this is happening with all electric companies. But another big one coming in January.

This is WITHOUT the cap and trade that Obama wants which as he said will double or triple all electric bills. So it will probably double BEFORE cap and trade then double again after it passes.

oh yeah, I forgot.....I posted on another board check with your electric companies website but most all of them have peak hours. Ours is almost 50% cheaper after 9PM until 7AM. Then on weekends it is about 1/3 less or thereabouts. This is when I run the dishwasher and washer and dryer. I have them loaded and ready to switch on at 9:10 PM.
