Default If you have Dierctv, good time to play hardball!

Dish tv (can't remember exact company name) is running a special that would be comparable in price to what we pay now for Directv...but with far more channels. My hubby called the compnay, got all the offer deals, called DTV and asked what they could do to keep us. OPriginal customer service rep offered $5 off our bill for the next 3 months or free movie channel for same time period. Hubby said, no, that's not enough...she transferred him to someone else who could actually deal with us and had more clout to change things- now we have the next package up channel wise, free movie channel for 3 months, free DVR- and we will pay $7 less a month for the next year then we previously were for the bare bones package.

If your utility provider's competition is running a great special, it can sometimes pay off to play hard ball and threaten to switch if you don't get more bang for your buck!

If you look hard enough, I bet you could find a similar statement about Dish Newtwork or any cable company.

I tried to get rid of Directv and I am not on contract. I cancelled them and then I got this ridiculous cancellation fee and other fees. When I called them, they were willing to "forgive" me, cancel the fee and now I got Directv again. I didn't do a thing except cause a headache for myself. UGH!!!

I'm sorry to hear that- we've been happy with them so far in the past 5+ years- expect losing reception during bad storms, but that's rare.
