Thank you mom2-3......you made my fees sound a little better but not much. Garbage.....$20----water - varies but 'hot' summers are a killer........sewer $80!! My elec. can drop down to about $50 to $60 during summer......BUT....I have no AC and it really isn't needed much here. Would be nice to have for 'maybe' two weeks and I can't justify the cost for that use........checked it out a few years ago.......over $4000.!!!

No problem! lol
We do use our ac and have a pool and spa hooked up to electric. I hang dry everything, and use the "light load" on the dishwasher. It's just the way it is, but frustrating too

My electric was 194 this month. It was 126 last time. We don't use that much for lights and have almost all cfl lightbulbs. The others are fluorescents. My AC was running wrong this month though. My trash is 33 a quarter.
I did find out my bf runs water when he goes to the bathroom to drown out the sound. Grrr. I am going to get a small radio for the bathroom so he can use that instead. Also, I think the kids' toilet is leaking. I am not sure if it is the flapper but the 2 toilets in the house both use a lot of water. We don't flush the toilets until we have to or it is yucky, iykwim. I am going to save up and switch both toilets for low-flush. I am a tightwad. I hate to spend money until I am forced to. I am always afraid I will need money and not have enough. I could be rich and still worry about money I guess lol. I just gave in and spent some $$ to have the ac serviced and change the thermostat only because it was WAY hot in here!
I talked to my neighbors on the side of me who are very nice. They have a well set up for some things and they told me to use their hose for outside things like the pool and plants. They said it would be ridiculous for me to fill my small pool with the costly water. Even using their well the water bill is about $65 a month. They said it is mostly the sewer that we are paying for. The lady is going to get me some papers for the weatherization (sp?) program because she is signing up for it too. Mrs. McD, thank you so much for your reply, I will check into everything!

No problem leighcat, let me know if I can be of anymore assistance. If you think the kids' toilet is leaking, either buy the replacement parts kit (approximately 20$ at Home Depot/Lowes) or turn it off at the shut-off valve between uses.
