Ick...they do that, and I'm cutting them off completely. I'll suffer through DSL or Clear wireless first before I'll pay that much to cable for internet.

We live in a semi-rural area and Comcast (our provider) is actualy the least expensive. I was shocked when I called around to get quotes. I wish I could find a less expensive provider. I'm hoping one day we'll just cut the cord. It's nice to dream... (LOL)

This post has some great information. My husband and I were just talking about what to do when our cable contract is up in June. It goes up and up and you get less and less. Thank you for all of the great information.

I was going to do this, but wondered about the TV's settings. Does the TV lose it's settings if it hasn't had any power for an extended time?

We've had no issues at all. 1 of our tvs is about 6 years old and the other 2 are about 3. I would assume it would be the same for older tvs too. I would make sure to actually turn the tv off before "flipping the switch" and I wouldn't expect any issues.
