    Default ? about electric hot water timer

    I want to get one of these, but if I do can I take it back out adn reinstall it in my new house when I move? TY

    Probably not - it's hardwired to the water heater. But they're not very expensive - just leave it for the buyer. Ours is a Little Gray Box - we got it at Lowe's for under $50.

    Well, to be fair, you can take just about anything with you when you go, depending on how much work it is and what it's worth to you.

    For an electric timer on a hot water tank, if it's easy to install, it's going to be easy to uninstall and take with you. I am an electrician though, so that may sway my opinion a bit.
