    Default Electric rates?

Just curious what everyone's electric rates are around the country.

Ours are currently as follows, but we know we have an increase coming in January.

    Non-fuel energy charge:
    - First 750 KWH $0.040470/KWH
    - Over 750 KWH $0.049770/KWH

    Fuel charge:
    - $0.037500/KWH

    Franchise charge:
    - $3.67

    plus tax

Kim, I'll post ours tomorrow. We do have 2 raises coming in 2005, the first in Feb. and I can't remember when the next one is. But it will give you a general idea. I'm too tired to do it tonight.

    Great thread!!

Goodness that's high compared to mine! I hate to see what mine will be with the upcoming increase (and potential increase beyond that to replenish the hurricane ermgency fund), but I really hate to know what yours are going to be with an increase!

    Anyone else?

    Ours our
    .04420 for energy
    .03534 for fuel adjustment
customer charge of 9.75 monthly plus taxes

Our's will be going up again in January. We have a cooperative electric company though and we normally get a refund/rebate in December and May. It is based on how long you have been with them and what your usuage is.

Our electic is *always* more than $130. In the summers it hits 195.00 - I really need to try to lower it, but everything I have tried doesn't lower it. What am I doing wrong?!?! LOL

We also don't have off peak times or anything like that - it's the same price no matter what time of day it is.

I just figured out something interesting when I pulled out our bills to post our rates - Our rate for gas is 77¢ per CCF , and our total would be then $45.43 but they have $49.71, so I looked back at all of the bills and sure enough they are all about $4-6 different than what the total should be and there is no justification - we have given them an extra $38.56 this year!! and thats on top of our gas rates just going up this month - electric goes up this month too - and I will post that when we get our bill.

afrugalmom - We don't have the off peak option here either.

Do you have energy star certified appliances (use less electric than older models)? Do you hang any laundry to dry or always use the dryer? Do you use the stovetop and oven for preparing all meals? (Just trying to think of things that would run up the bill).

All of our appliances are 3 years old or newer. I don't hang laundry out very often and we do alot of laundry. But even when I did hang out all the laundry I was only saving about $5 a month. So I really didn't think it was worth all the effort - kwim?
But maybe I should go back to hanging it out for awhile.

I use the stovetop mostly for cooking. We use the micro for breakfasts and lunches or eat cold things. So I only cook once a day on the stove.

I used to bake alot, but have cut that out and still am not seeing a savings.

Does your electric service provider offer a free energy assessment/audit? Contact them to find out - they will check insulation, your appliances, your heat and a/c, etc. to see what's affecting your bill.
