Sweet! I'm about to cancel mine as well--though I won't save as much as that, it will be more like around $240/yr.

Good for you! I had a hard time adjusting to not having one for a while, but it was OK after a couple of weeks. Now dh's boss gives him one for work, and I get one as a fringe benefit.

Wow, that's a huge savings. Mike doesn't want me to cancel mine, I'm on the road by myself quite a bit for work and he feels safer if I have one. Honestly, I agree with him, its worth the $$ for me to feel a bit safer with it. The plus side is, Mike gets one for work, so we don't have to pay for his.

Matthew and I gave up our cell phone awhile back, but now we both have tracphones, they cost us $35 dollars plus airtime, but we get the 40 min and only use them for emergencies............Just got them yesterday as a matter of fact!!!!!!

AT & T has a similar thing to the tracphone. We pay about $10 every 90 days. The rate is 25 cents a minute. You can go a whole year without renewing if you purchase a $100 card. These $100 cards have the rate of 15 cents per minute.

WOW! That is a great savings.

I have thought about it, but am not sure how I would adjust.

We were thinking of actually cancelling our landline and going to cells only. The one reservation that I had about that was in regard to 911. A few days ago, I heard that they have developed software that will now be able to track cell phones if used to dial 911. So, that's an option we are exploring.

Carrie, we had considered that as well but our reception on our cell phone isn't the greatest where we live. I know lots of people that have done that though.
