    Default Electric bill went up!

I started actually cooking, from scratch even. My grocery bill has gone down by about half. I got my electric bill and it has gone up by about $13!! The trade off is worth it because I am still saving, but I am still disappointed though.

    Edited to say:

I haven't gotten my gas bill yet. I just realized that I haven't had the heat on in weeks and I have been using cooking as a way to heat the house, so this might cancel itself all out!! Keeping my fingers crossed!!

You could try baking or cooking a few things at a time and frezzing it.

Also using a crockpot cuts way down on electricity.

I haven't ventured back into crockpot cooking yet. We basically ate out of the crockpot for a long time after the twins were born. And, since then, I have gone vegetarian and all the recipes I knew were meat based. I am unwilling to fix two dinners, so everyone eats vegetarian for dinner. Besides, Hubby's family has a history of high cholesterol and heart problems and it is better for him in the long run. To make it even harder, the kids won't hardly eat beans. TVP is my friend!!

What an acomplishment to drop your grocery bill so much! Could you compensate somewhere else in the home to help lower your electric bill?

    Good luck!
