When do you turn on A/C?
Do you have a set temperature that is has to get to before you turn the A/C on? Or just when it's too hot to stand? What do you set it at?
It was 87 here yesterday and 90 today so our A/C went on for the first time this year last night. Last year it had to be 80 outside before I would flip on the A/C and I think I'll do the same this year. There were some days that it was 79 out and I was praying it would hit 80 to turn it on! We'll set it at 77 and leave it.

We haven't put ours in yet (window a/c). My challenge to myself is to go without a/c this year. We shall see.

I think it was May 10th that I turned ours on. When it gets above 81* in the house, it's too hot for us to stand any longer.

We usually wait until it's around 85 degrees inside. We hit that right after church, early this afternoon.

I don't turn ours on till it reaches 80 degrees outside......it's been on for over a month but on cool days I put it 90 so it doesn't cut on.It's usually kept at 75 or so most of the summer.
Today high was in the 90's and was SO humid outside.

When it's so humid you can hardly breath or when it's around 80. Just cringe when I have to put it on, but at leat I have it. I guess it's better that I do put it on when it is hot or humid because I can become pretty crabby when it gets's to hot.

First hubby has to put them in the windows, then I turn it on when I can't stand the heat anymore. Always off at night, we usually open the windows and I have a window fan I use for fresh cool air to come in.
Last year I only turned it on once or twice, this year I need it already!

We don't have a/c

When it gets hot, we just open the windows on the shady side of the house and use fans to get a cross breeze. Luckily, there are only 2-3 hot months out of the year, and maybe 2-3 weeks where it would really be nice to have a/c.
I look forward to the respite from my electric bill in the summer time too much to miss a/c.Total Debt Paid Off $92,234

Usually I can wait to put the ac on until it's in the high 80's. this year it was on in the high 70's. I guess being pregnant I'm so much hotter this summer.....I can't handle it. I want it to be very cool. I don't even want to see what the bill is!!

Ours usually goes on sometime at the end of April or beginning of May when the days start getting hot.

DH has emphysema so it's on a lot...but if I could I would just open the windows.
It's set to 75 I think

My idea was to go without A/C all year. We are moving in less than 30 days and right now we have an a/c in our apaprtment wall but where we are moving we would need to purchase a/c for windows. So, my idea was to save lots of money by not buying a/c and save on our electric bill as well. However, I am a wimp and as soon as it hit 87 yestaurday that a/c was on for hours. I need it!!! LOL!!!

The middle of May unless it stays below 80. I keep it set on a set temperature and noone is allowed to touch it.
If we have a really breezy day, I turn it off and open the windows.~*Michelle*~

It was over 90 here yesterday and the ac was turned on for a bit. We spent most of the day outside though and the ac was turned off while we were gone.
We lost power last night for hours and just had windows open.If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. We usually keep the house on the cool side. Right now our a/c is broken and with 90 degree temps and terrible humidity we haven't been sleeping and everyone from dh to baby is grumpy. Hopefully it will be fixed today. We had been doing o.k with open windows & fans but 85 degrees in the house is just too hot for us.
