Default what do you set the thermostat too?

    Hello!

We are moving to an oil heated home and there is a new thermostat thing. What do you set the temps for during the day time? In summer and in winter?

Thanks in advance. I'm curious to see the average temps.

In winter I don't turn on the heat until it gets below 62* in the house.

Our a/c is something we're still figuring out. We had to get a new thermostat and they are no longer manufacturing the type we had (it was only 3 years old at most). We kept the old one set on 80*. The new one is completely digital (touch screen and all) and our friend that installed it (he owns his own a/c company) said these new digital ones are not perfect and are usually off by a couple of degrees. We are keeping it on 79*, but when we get too hot we go and lower the temp to make it kick on.

In the winter it's set on 66* (plus we use our woodstove, so the furnace mostly comes on on really cold days & during the night).

We don't have a/c, so in the summer the thermostat isn't set on anything

During the winter we keep it about 68 or 69 and during the summer I turn it up to 82 from 6:30 am till about 2:30 pm during the day and about 75 from 2:30 to 6:30 am.

During the winter we keep our set about 62 or so. We heat with wood for the most part.

In the summer at 78 or 80. I am a reluctant a/c user and actually prefer not to use it at night. I like to have the windows open.

We keep ours at 70 in winter and 75 in summer. With these hot flashes though, I might bite the bullet and lower it!

We have oil heat and keep the temp on 60 degrees. When it gets below freezing we turn it up between 62-64.

Wow. You guys are hardier than I am. I'm a wimp, and if it gets over 76 in the house, I usually start getting sick to my stomach. I just can't handle it. I have to sleep with it between 68-70 in the summer, and in the winter I set the heat to come on at 62. During the day when I'm not home, we keep it about 73-75, and I try to put it at 72-73 when I get home during the summer. During the winter, the 'stat is set to kick on at 68, and I leave it at that during the day for the dogs.

80? I need an ice tea just thinking about it. My husband would love it, though.

We just realized, after living here nearly a year that our furnace does have a "cool" option, which blows cool air from the basement into the house. It's not a/c though. Just cool air. We keep that set at 80* and only turn it on at night. During the day we use fans & close the blinds.

good god you people. I get the chills at 70* and I think I would curl up and die if I lived in a 62* house. I keep mine at 72* during the winter (and that's hard for me, I have sweats and socks and 3 shirts on and a heated blanket and a quilt on me at all times. My heated blanket's cord reaches thruout the house so I can walk around with it) and I love love love the heat so we have no AC
brrr I can't get over how some of you keep it so cold ***starts shaking***

In the winter ours fluctuates between 72 and 76, sometimes I'm hot sometimes I'm cold.

In the summer, we don't go below 73, but usually it's set at 74. I like it cool and the skylights don't help with preventing the sunlight from heating up the place. I've been thinking of tinting them...

We leave ours set at 78 in the summer. In the winter it is usually set to around 68, we don't like it to terribly warm in the winter. This winter we will be running am outside wood stove for heat, so we will just have to see how that whole thing works.
