Anyone planning ahead for the utility bills for the winter?
We hated to pay as much as we did but we locked in our price (and paid) for home heating oil. We don't use much (heat with wood mostly)but I figure this winter the prices will be out of this world. Bit of a gamble but at least we know we're all set.

We are too. Just makes sense. If the prices don't go up were ahead. If they do go up were ahead. Win/win situation.

We are on the budget system with the electric co. We pay a set amount each month and it should average....for example, right now our bill is running between $29 and 35 a month, but we pay $150 so we won't be killed this winter, KWIM?

Last month I set up my gas bill for the "set amount plan". I now pay $78 a month instead of $20-30 in the summer and $150 in the winter. This helps with my budgeting and I wont' get killed in the winter months.
I'm thinking about doing the same with my electric bill.

I am on budget plans with both gas and electric company. It is the only way I can keep on track with them both.

We just called yesterday to start with the budget plan in September. $142 will be our bill from then on, which helps so much for our budget. Last winter, I shudder thinking about how much our bills were for heating our house. OY!
I think I'll call our town (they're in charge of our electric and water and such) and see if they have a a budget plan. It would be awesome if they did.

We had to make arrangements to have an LP tank set, we are going to use wood to heat with for the most part but we also will have LP heat as a back up. We already did a contract and locked in the price though April of next year, I am afraid to see what any kind of heating will be, be it gas, LP; or oil is going to cost this winter.

I've been on level pay with the gas company for several years. My bill is usually around $50-60 a month year round. We tried it with the electric company, but it changed every month and it seemed to always get higher.
