Question How much was your gas and electric bill?

Anyone else get excited when they get their gas and electric bill in the mail?  I'm always hoping that it will be lower.  I try to use fewer utilities in hopes of having a lower bill.

I goofed this month and left the garage attic light on all week, totally by mistake!

My gas bill was $21.26 for 32 days.

The bad news is gas prices are going up.  The note on my bill said to expect a $5.00 increase next month. I expect more as I have to turn on the heater.  My stove and water heater are both gas. The heating bill is going to be considerably higher.

    Here's the breakdown:

Monthly customer charge, whether I use gas or not is $7.50

Cost of gas for 12 CCF @ 0.760960 was $10.65

    Distribution charge was $2.29

Sales tax was $.082 for a grand total of $21.26

    My electric bill was $70.81

    I used 527 KWH @ 0.07885 at $41.55

    and I used 221 KWH @ 0.09295 at $20.54

    Electric Surcharge was $6.00

Tax was $2.72 for a grand total of $70.81.

I'm just curious how electric and gas bills vary state to state.

    Gas 29.89 for 30 days
    16 CCF x 1.22 gas pressure factor & x 1.003 BTU fctor =18 therms
    Base rate 18 therms x .12177
    PGA adjustment .81194 11 days
    PGA adjustment .85198 19 days
    State regulatory assesment .07
State sales tax 5.5% is 1.56
for a grand total of 29.89

    Electric
    usage 2360...........$168.36

    Water
    usage 12........22.23

    sewer........30.00

Grand total for city utilities with tax 232.72.

All utilities (gas & elect & sewer & water) $261.61

Had to run the air alot this month (this is the 2nd highest bill I've ever had) and we had viruses running around like crazy and pottytraining, so I had to wash all whites in hot. UG!

All appliances are electric except water heater & furnace.

Tonight it's supposed to be 52 degrees F and I've got hideous allergies, so we still have to leave the air on. DOUBLE UG!

I'll be glad to pay the gas costs to heat my house because here, gas is cheaper & I can have the house chilly.

eta.... I also used the clothes dryer all month because of said allergies......c'mon freeze!!!

Mine last month was $111.00. This includes electric, water, sewer, and trash. Going to get toilet replaced becasuse it leaks water and starts on its on. Oh my gosh mom22 grls I thought my bill was high. I would of died on the spot. I'm on a budget plan with my gas bill. $83.00 per month. When I received my gas bill I noticed I used a little bit less gas this year than I did last year. I just dread to see the heating bill this winter!

I'm chuckling as I read this. My highest bill ever was $289....that was july's bill.

My "normal" bill is around 120 for the electric without the air conditioning & when I hang most of the clothes out. My gas in the winter is around 80 a month for the three months that it's cold here. I budget $200 except for july, aug, and sept when I *know* it'll be high. I can't stand the heat. I know it'll be about $50 more. I went $11 over my budget.

It makes me feel better when I'm nosy & call my neighbor across the street. She's got new siding, windows, airconditioner, etc etc etc......her bill is *ALWAYS* 50 to 70 more than mine & all my stuff is original....30 years old!! We're milking that air conditioner until next year when I'll have the money saved to replace it.

Electricity here is high and so is our water & sewer compared to the city. Gas, though, is fairly inexpensive.

Ours was $182.xx I don't know of the breakdown but I know the majority of the cost was for electricity (and we don't even have A/C!!!) as we only use gas for the stove & hot water....it will easily be double that in the winter. Not looking forward to it

Wow .. who can we move in with? lol

August - electric and gas (gas is broken down over 12mo, since it's only used in winter) - $422.93. The gas was $100 .. our electric bill is horrendous. Here's to a lower one next month now that the water heater's been replaced!

Our electric bill was down this month! Shocking! I hung more laundry and it was worth it! It was 85.00 ( electric only).

Hmmm. . . .I think we should include our square footage in our house, and how many people live there. For example, I have a two 1/2 car garage. My dh likes to spend evenings out there with the lights on. My house is just under 1000 sq. feet, but I have a finished basement, so often we are downstairs. Right now there are just two of us.

Heidi, your bill is HUGE! How big is your house? Do you have old appliances???? What is making your electric bill so high. I know my bill averages $20 a month more when I use the dehumidifier.

    Electric was 220.96 last month
    Gas was 35.49

I heat water and cook with gas.

Electric runs 2 freezers, 2 refrigerators, water pump for well ( that is a real gotcha) dryer, AC and lights. I had hoped to see a difference by line drying clothes but the bill actually went up. But I think because it was so hot and DH runs the AC like a crazy person. I would expect the electric to drop a bit for October and november but the heating will then kick in so I dont think it will be less. Jeez.....it is gonna be a long hard winter around here

1000 sq ft house, 2 adults, 2 kids, all electric. My budget-pay on the electric is $88/month, year round. Water doesn't vary much: it's $14-18/month. We're on septic, not sewer, so we only pay that when we get it pumped. It costs $325 about every two years (breaks down to $13.55/month). Total: $120/month

You didn't mention garbage, but ours is $13/month. That's for a 'mini can' (which is 20 gallons) picked up weekly.

Our house is 1581 sq ft...something like that, 158x

We have 4 people living here: 2 adults and 2 kids

    Let's see...last month we paid:

    $131.65 electric
    $30.81 gas

Both based on actual usage vs. same amount spread over the whole year.

Definitely more than we've ever paid before.

I am so scared to see what our gas bill will be during the winter.

My garbage is included in either my taxes or water bill. I don't pay separate for that.
