What's your EQ? (Energy Quotient)
I have no idea where this came from. I looked at my computer this AM, and it was open. As I don't remember opening it, DH must have. Anyway, I haven't calculated mine yet. I'll let you know when I do. I will also b adding up the total points available to houses without central air, since you "lose" a lot of points for not doing a/c efficiently, even if you don't have it.

Okay, I just did my total and got about 600, but it does mention that possible totals for each house varies because not all houses have a/c, gas, etc, and I haven't calculated what my possible total is- I lost a lot of points for not having gas, etc, so I did better than it looks like I did.

I got 776/1350
But I lost points I probably shouldn't have because we don't have any a/c, oil furnace or a dishwasher

I'm worse than all of you so far! I got a 525 out of 1350. Mostly that is because our windows are in bad shape. I lost 36 points for having 4 broken windows, plus we have a lot of weatherstripping and caulking to do. I gained points for having the woodstove, but I wish I could have claimed some solar energy which would have given me a big boost.
Very interesting site! Thanks Kimberly!~~Jean~~

No gas, no a/c, no dishwasher,no iron either, lol! I'm just not sure this test is a good fit for us.

Well, I only got 455. Not having gas was a lot of that, but some of the questions are just ... odd.
For instance, you got extra points if you closed off and didn't heat unused rooms. We have 4 people in a 1000sq ft, 2 bedroom house; there are no extra rooms! Shouldn't we get points for not living in what dh calls a 'monster house'? We are much more efficient than our neighbors. They are a family of the same size. In addition to our kitchen and eating area, they have a formal dining room. In addition to our living toom, they have a family room. They have an office (we have a corner of the living room). They have extra bathrooms (we have one). They have separate bedrooms for the kids (ours share).
The quiz is a fine tool for what it is, but I don't think it applies to me. I'm not going to let my poor score get me down.

Yes, I agree that it isn't terribly accurate for most people. I didn't do too well either, but I bet if I added up the total points possible for the stuff that actually applies to me, I did a lot better than it first appears. What it IS good for, though, is looking at areas that DO apply that I can improve.
