Well I guess its time!
It is expected to go into the low 40's and maybe even high 30's tonight so I think I might have to turn on the gas
I was so hoping to make it to Nov 1 but I doubt that is going to happen. It was quite chilly in the house today ( down to 67) but with a sweater on it was not too bad. DD complained of course but she got over it!
This might be just the push that DH needs to get the plastic on the windows though!
Hope you are all safe and warm !

Yup, my heat is on. I'm just glad it's been a warm fall. I keep the heat at 60 during the day-no one is home-and when I get home from work, I turn it up to 65, and sometimes I crank it up to 70, then I turn it back to 67ish once the house is warm. Of course, I'm dressing in layers.

We gave in last weekend. It was 59* in the house

And last night it got in the 20s! Definitely time to suck it up. I've got it set to come on if the house hits 59* during the day and 62* after 10pm.

I turned my heat on yesterday. The house was 58 and damp.
I take care of my 14 month old grandaughter 2/3 days a week so I dont like it to be that cold. I keep the temp at 67 during the day at night the thermostat is programmed to go down to 60.

Heat is still off here, and I'm hoping to hold off until 11/1.
I do need to bring in my houseplants tomorrow, as I think it is getting a little chilly for them.

It's beginning to get cold in Pittsburgh. I've been putting the heat on in the morning until the house is heated to 68 degrees then I turn it off and bundle up. This is working fine for now but I don't know how long I have until the heat has to be kept on all day.

Temp in the house Thursday was 57...brrrrr. I put up a tension curtain rod in the door jam 'tween the kitchen and the dining room (w/ curtian of course) and baked some bread. Kitchen was toasty. Me and Roby stayed in there most of the day.
Yesterday it was close to the same. I bought a gallon of Kerosene for the K. heater and we turned it on when we had our "power outage party" in the evening! Put an old quilt over the large doorway until it warmed up, then opened it for ventilation...It had to be 70 and above....ahhhhhhh
I miss summer already!
Dh (big suzey) used up the rest of the Kerosene this afternoon. I wanted to use it for next Friday's P.O. Party. $3.00 a gallon for Kerosene ain't cheap!
When we finally break down and turn the furnace on, I will have curtians up in the livingroom door (blocking the foyer) and curtians up in the foyer/dining room door way. The thermostat is in the dining room so that should keep the blasted thing from kicking on so much. At least, that's what I'm hoping...LOL
Pay day I'll fill a Kerosene can and hide it from the heat miser...hehehehe That'll make sure we stay toasty during P.O. Party's in the future!
I'm off to bed!

We had to turn out heat on (low) over the weekend as well. It's been in the low 40's and the house was just getting too cold. It was 54 degrees when the heat kicked on and I bumped it up to 58 and am leaving it there for most of the winter. Which is very comfortable in our place once the plastic is on the windows (which I did this past weekend) We have forced hot air, oil heat so when it blows out of the vents it's hot and will warm up the house a couple of degrees higher than I set the thermostat. We're having cold rain and snow all week.

I must really be a big baby. I had it at 67 and am chilled to the bone so I just bumped it up to 70. It is rainy and cold here so maybe it is just the damp but I am freezing.... I work from home at a pc and sit all day so maybe that contributes but I am freezing..

I get cold when I sit still for a long time, too. And I hate being cold!!! Have you tried filling a hot water bottle and putting it in your lap, or behind your back, or under your feet? Tonight I am going to get my hot water bottle ready for bedtime.Originally posted by Mamaw

This morning the house was pretty chilly --- 61 degrees. The kids were very unhappy about it and we all huddled around the electric heater in the kitchen. I still have to do the weatherizing on our house, we still have to clean the woodstove flue and get it ready to fire up, and I do NOT want to turn on the furnace (propane). Just a week ago today it was 90 degrees here, today it is 53. Ack.~~Jean~~
