Default I don't want to buy

another dishwasher and instead get a double bowl sink. Dh thinks I'm crazy and that we HAVE to have one. I know I could live without one.
I beleive it would first save us on buying a new one and on water and electric in the long haul.

By the way, we have a new addition and are slowly working on making it our kitchen area. Another plus, we are able to use our cabinets we had in our pantry except the addition of a corner cabinet.

Any thoughts, if you we're designing on a dime again?

    Thanks!

If you're ever going to resell your home, not having a dishwasher would probably hurt you in that respect. You could always put in a cheap one and not use it.

I have never had a dishwasher and don't want one

If you have to rinse the plates before putting them in the Dishwasher then you might as well just do them in the sink IMO!

We have a double sink, hot suds in one side and a bit of vinegar in the clean rinse water on the other.

Using a spray bottle( dishwashing liquid and water diluted 50:50 or to your own desired strength) spray the plates and pans etc.and let sit for a few mins ( you can be clearing up other things) then add to hot water sink and they come out very clean rinse and repeat.

If the cupboards are sound, sand and paint or varnish and just add new handles.

Get the best worktops you can afford within your budget as these take a lot of wear and tear.

Choose a colour scheme you can live with for a long time, remember decorating is both expensive and time consuming so don't rush it.

    Good luck with it!

i agree that if you plan to resell it you should put in an inexpensive dishwasher. just because it's there, you don't have to use it. it could come in handy ifyou get sick and dh has to do the cleaning for a bit, he could run a load of dishes if he needed to. if your dh is like my dh, he'd wouldn't want to handwash dishes if he had to take care of me.

Well, here's my input. Go for the dishwasher, it will increase the selling value of your house. I had a cheap one in a brand new apartment and it was TERRIBLE. You truly get what you pay for. Buy one that will last, it is worth the extra money. I hated having to rewash dishes.

I believe that some studies have shown that you use less water using a dishwasher.

Although, if you want more cupboard space and don't mind washing dishes, go for it!

I don't have one but would truly like one and use it everyday. This is the first place I've lived that didn't have a dishwasher and I sure do miss it.

It hurts my back to stand and do dishes all day long and I have little counter space as it is. To save my back and time, a dishwasher would be very much appreciated.

I've heard that dishes washed in the dishwasher are actually cleaner than those done by hand. I've been wanting one for a long time!
