Default Vornado Space Heaters~Lower Your Heat Costs?

A friend of mine told me about the new space heater he plans on buying.  He said that one of his friends uses several to heat his house, and that he keeps the heat on low.  Does anyone own one of these?  I'm thinking about buying one.

This is a link to amazon. It has reviews of this product.  The product reviewed is of an older model.  I still think its helpful.[ame="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000050B5R/102-1852626-3396163?v=glance"]404 - Document Not Found[/ame]

    The website is www.vornado.com

One of the heaters is $70 on the manufacturer website.  There's a link to other sites.  Bed, Bath and Beyond carry the line, and if I went there, I'd use a 20% off coupon.  Ace Hardware have them too.

I own one and I like it but sometimes it cuts off by itself and I can't get it to come back on. I don't know why it happens. Maybe I can ask the manufacturer.

What model do you have? A few of the heaters have been recalled. It might be the one that shuts off once the desired heat is reached. Does it start back up when the room cools down?

This site has the heater for $30, plus $8 shipping. Their factory refurbished, but I bought one, and I'll post what I think when I get it.

I got it in the mail last week. It works great! It raised the temp in my house up to 4 degrees and the thermastat isn't in the same room as the heater. I ordered 4 more since you just pay $1 more per item for shipping. I plan on giving at least two for Christmas gifts. I'll use one in the basement this winter.

It's very quiet! So far, I love it!

    Shannon,
Thanks! Mine is one of the ones thats been recalled. It looks like I'll be getting a new one for free. I'll also use the 20% coupon at Bed Bath & Beyond to buy another one.

I have the newer model, and I saved $60 on the website I listed.

I'm sure it might increase a little bit. The research I did said it would cost $.15 an hour to run if your electric bill was $.10 per kwh. My bill runs around $.08 per kwh. I don't leave it on all day. It might just be on for a couple hours or less. So far, I love it. I ordered one, then I purchased four more. I'm giving a couple as gifts for Christmas, plus I want a couple more for the house. I plan on using them down in my basement. Right now, electric is cheaper than gas so even if the bill goes up a litte, It will still be cheaper than the gas. I love it!
