And so it begins
We use gas in our house for everything: heat, washer/dryer, stove, etc.
Last month our bill was $87.70. This month? $202.96!!!!

That is $60 more than it was last year at this time.

I haven't got my bill yet for this month. I know it will be more because the due date is changing so I expect the first bill will be for more days. We just use gas for the stove and heat. I've been working at keeping the heat down. I use my space heaters as needed.
Have you thought about checking out the budget plan? At least, there wouldn't be such a huge increase in the winter.
Our gas prices are going up 50% so I'm expecting a hefty bill.

From October to end of November is was 60.00. I actually used less gas than last year at this same time. The adjustable thermostat will get credit for that! And being more aware and keeping it lower must be helping too. But I dread Dec, Jan and Feb. Those are are coldest months..

Yes we did, but to make a really long story short, when we first bought our house, it was in a new development. For months we were charged the gas rate for the people across the street whose house is twice as big as ours. It took forever to get that straigtened out--tons of paperwork, phone calls, etc. After that we decided to leave well enough alone and not ask them to touch our bills at all. Too much stress.Originally posted by SHOPGIRL

If it gets to be too bad this year, we may consider it for next year though.

Yes, We are on the budget plan. The hike in cost because of heating at this time of year would just kill me. We use gas for hot water and heating but not the dryer or stove. I am using very little heat but our gas bill still went up (but just a touch). I 'd hate to have seen the bill if we had kept the heat the same as last year!
I highly recommend the budget plan, it prevents heart attacks.

We are total electric here, I am dreading the bills already. Last year we had almost $400 electric bills during the coldest part of the winter, I am hoping to stay well below that this year.
