Question Energy efficient - old or new appliances

Our appliances are really starting to age and therefore probably not as efficient as they should be. We will definitely need to replace our freezer soon and our fridge.

All of our appliances are newer, so they are still pretty energy efficient.. We do have a twenty year old freezer though, that DH won't let me even plug in because he thinks it is an energy guzzler... I really want a freezer I can use...

We replaced all of our major appliances over the last 2 years so our fridge/freezer, oven and dishwasher are all energy efficient newer appliances!

Our appliances were new with the house (3 years ago) except the fridge, which is 6 years old. You would not beleive the number of people who thought it was odd that we didn't replace our fridge to match the other applicances (stainless steel)...it was only 3 years old!!! I can live with a white fridge.....
We do have a chest freezer that has to be at least 40 years old...I keep begging dh to get a new one. The thing is a monster and I know it probably just eats electricity!
