    Default Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!

It was reported on the news the other day that our Domestic Gas AND Electricity providers are set to increase prices by a whopping 25%

This will  happen over a matter of WEEKS!!!!!!!!!

Add that to the fact we are paying almost (the equivalent of)$7.00 a gallon for Petrol/gasoline and I think some folks will have to seriously re-think their budgets.

I am so glad we chose a tiny ( and I mean tiny!) house to live in!

As I type this I am sat UNDER a line of damp washing in the study

it will be dry by the morning

These companies make huge profits every year and STILL they fleece us until we are naked and shivering

That's Nuts! It seems the more you try to be frugal gas and electric bills keep going up so most of the time you just come out even or end up in the red. Sorry to hear this!

We have a similar problem here Karen. Our natural gas bills have jumped at least 50% and in some cases and at certain times even more. We heat with natural gas here and our farmers use it to irrigate their crops. At times their bills can top out at over $50,000 per month. It's outrageous I swear!

I feel your pain! Our electric provider just raised rates 40% on the first 1000 KWH used and 70% on KWH over 1000 used.

We live in a country that has lots of natural gas and yet our gas prices have gone up twice in the past 6 months. However government told the gas company in our province they had to put a freeze on gas prices during the winter months. However the prices can go up in the summer.

Karen, I'm beginning to think the smaller the home the better. We plan on downsizing as soon as our van is paid off.

Exxon Oil has made record profits in the last 6-12 months. This is not just record profits for them but for ANY industry in history. What is wrong with this picture? I think we all know why they are profiting. Just take a look at your recent energy bills! It makes me so mad!

Yep, same here. We have increase monthly sometimes as much as 70%. It is outrageous. We have lowered the heat every month a little more and try our hardest, but it doesn't do much unfortunately. I don't really know what else to do. I keep lowering our usage and the bill keeps going up.

Our energy prices are rising here also. Our natural gas prices were increased 30% in October and on Feb. 1 another 30% increase was approved. I did the math and estimate our bill will be another $39 higher. I'm going to have to budget in $160 for next months bill.

Our house is small, only 850 sq. ft. I can't imagine what some people must be paying for heat.

The gas and oil companies made a record profit total in the last quarter. I forget how many billion it was! Thank heavens I live in a moderate climate.

That's awful Karen, I always worry about my aging parents. I know Tony Blair gives them a heating allowance but this is ridiculous!

Sorry to hear about the increases Karen. Maybe I feel a little less homesick now.

Julia - I really worry about my parents too. Trying to handle all these increase on a pension must be really tough.
