    Default Water Usage

Well I just received my water bill!

My usage went down from 21,000 gallons to 15,000! So I cut my water usage by 6,000 gallons for the 3 month period! I still got a long way to go, but it is definitely a start!

    Ann Marie,

That's awesome! I know with my previous bill I went down by $15! I was amazed.

I got my water bill down so low -- my friends n family can't believe it. We have a bucket in the shower and fill the bucket waiting for the shower to warm up. It only takes a minute but then we use that water to flush the toilet with. You wouldn't believe how big the savings is!

Our water usage is about the same every year. It changes from month to month, but over the course of five years it's remained remarkably steady each month. Granted, I instituted a lot of my frugal water habits 7 or 8 years ago, before I started recording water usage. Still, I think I've got room to improve on this one.

I never really thought about it. DH pays that bill. I think I'll ask him about it. I doubt I'll get everyone on board here. It's hard to control teen showers.

We've been known to shut the water off from the cellar- while one is still in there. Hey 20 minutes is LONG enough!

Now you've got me laughing and remembering my mom getting mad at my brother! I was about 7, brother was 17 and home for the summer from college, he'd sleep late and drive mom NUTS! If she was up then YOU were up. More than once she'd then get FURIOUS when he ws in the shower forever, she'd go to the basement and turn off just the hot water, LOLOL!!

Thanks for making me laugh, I reallly needed it today.

I live in an older apartment building and don't have to pay the water bill. Actually, I think it's added into the electric bill, but we don't use a lot of water anyway.
