Isn't it great? I hung out sheets and blankets all day Sunday and was so happy! I LOVE the smell of lined dried clothing and the savings! WOOOHOOO, warmth is finally here!

That is one of my favorite things about spring. I love the smell of freshly hung laundry.

While growing up Ma always washed clothes by hand & sometimes used one of those old fashioned wash boards too!

The old fashioned kitchen sink had a big deep basin on one side & the regular sized sink on the other side w/the 2 cabinets below.

I did laundry w/my Dad we'd always go to the laundrymat until he bought Ma a Kitchen Aid Speed Queen washing machine & every Saturday while Ma was out working cleaning house I would do the laundry.

We never had a dryer just hung up the clothes outside & for Dad's pants there were these metal pants hangers which held the pants shape while drying. I'm not sure what they were called

My Dad had a clothes line w/the reel hooked up to the post right by the back door, which went all the way across the yard to another pole by the garage. We hand another shorter line hooked up by the shed to one of the trees. I usually hung up the more heavier clothes there.

We hung the clothes out to dry even in the cold weather they were a bit crunchy when it was really freezing out!

We have steam heat radiators so we'd hang the clothes on top of them to dry also.

There was also a clothesline in the hall across from the coat rack wall my Dad built!

Having towels warmed up on the radiators while taking a bath were nice!

DH Mom always hangs out her to line dry, they use the dryer every so often.

I don't have much luck w/the birds hovering around & the bugs getting into my clothes I never line dry our clothes now!

Also the pollen getting onto my clothes & my bad allergies doesn't help!

I hung out my first loads yesterday!! LOVE linedrying season

I did three loads yesterday and am doing 1 load today. So instead of 5 loads in the dryer, only 1 go in the dryer (socks & underwear, along with a few of dh's work clothes that can't be linedried).

So glad I read this post. I put a load of towels in the washer a couple of hours ago and forgot them. I'm off to put them on the line.
