Hot Water Heater Caught On Fire
We've been gone most of today . When we got home I went in to start a
dry a load of clothes. Smelt something bad.
Doug came in and we had a water leak and it burnt out the wires on the
hot water heater. When he took off the cap on the wires it was all black where ther had been Fire.
Luckily he had another part and put it on so we should have Hot water.
The breaker in the cellar never tripped...
Thank God we still have a house and our animals

well our gas meter was raised the other day so a worker came by to relight the pilot on our heater. while he was looking at it he told me someone had plugged the release valve. he said its a wonder it had never blown up on us. of course i was afraid to take a hot shower that night, but the hubby replaced the valve the next day. he went to let some of the water out to release the pressure and then it wouldn't turn off. it flooded our garage, which is where we keep all the power tools, the freezer, washer and dryer. so now i was too scared to even go in the garage because if im not going to be blown up, i'll be electricuted! luckily neither of those happened, the release valve has been replaced and the faucet has been capped. but bad luck always comes in 3's, so im waiting to see what happens next.

so glad everything came out allright. I remember one day iwas drying my laundry and smoke started coming out of the back, and the stink. I ran shut down the power at the fuse box, and yelled at my dad whowa right next door in the work shop. Opened all the windows and doors. I know its csry. Found out the same thing had happened too, my dad pulled out the dryer and beacuse at time i never hardly ever vacumned and the dryer was at least 20 years old, it didn't help. I always vacumn now in the back and in the front where it collects every month. took three days to get smell out.

I am glad you were home and smelled the fire. Also, glad it didn't do more damage.
