Default Line drying does save money

    I just found this article.

    http://awesome-clothes-drying-racks.com/didyouknow.html

Using even the low number that is $10 a month I would save. I may have to start putting that in a change jar.

I just have to share. I told my husband about this article. He said no way would we save $ but, to humor me we could buy one. So, we bought a kit today a Ace Hardwear. He's putting it up now.

I lined dried clothes for years and years when we were first married and in our first house. Could he be getting old and forgotten!

I have no way to line dry. I wish I did. My mom used to do it and the clothes soooo good fresh from the line. We kids used to bury our faces in the clean laundry just to smell it. Odd children?? My moms only expense was the clothes and clothes pins; that stuff lasted forever.

Oh it does save money. I have to pay 1.00 to use the dryer. So for one month I put that money in a jar. 17.00 I saved that month. Also I use dryer racks and the shower rod to dry clothes. Since I live in an apartment.

I actually just posted on another thread that I saved 30 on my electric bill this month by making one change: line drying. I only used the dryer three times last month as opposed to my usual 30 something times and it really paid off. I have three drying racks (the old fashioned wooden kind) and they work great, but this new one looks fantastic!

When we started line drying about 5 years ago, I was able to save $20cdn/mth. And I only dried 1 out of 3 loads in the dryer. I don't have space to actually line dry outside. Plus it's very cold here 8 months of the year. But I dry clothes from plastic hangers hanging off my cold water pipes in the basement. I also have a wooden drying rack I use.

Somewhere the last couple of years I got out of the habit of line drying. Don't know why. Usually I say it's because I don't have the time.(sigh) It takes about five minutes to hang the clothes up, so I think it was just an excuse. I'm back at it now and looking forward to seeing the saving on my electric bill again.

I hang dry most of our shirts, including T-shirt (they last longer and the color stays brighter much longer). I have to hang them on hangers from the bedroom door molding but it works great!

You know, I'm staying at my cousin's place and they regularly go through about 3 loads a day with kids, barn muck etc...

At first I thought "that's waaaay too much to hang dry"..... but how silly!!! They're electric bill is crazy expensive ..... Perhaps I will hang out most of it and only touch it up in the dryer. See how much we save!

I think I drive our neighbors nuts here, I have a laundry line strung from our power pole to a tree, then another from the tree to the house, lol! Just call us the local hillbillies! Hey, all it cost was the price of the line and the pins, can't get much more frugal than that

KJ. I am the only where I live that does it. And truthfully, I don't care if my neighbors don't like it.

Here in my apartment, it costs $1.25 per wash and $1.50 per dry. Well, I gotta tell ya, the investment of $8 to dry my clothes on a rack is a considerable savings!

I pay 1.00 to dry and sometimes towels can take 3.00 to dry. I am all about line drying. I saved 17.00 one month alone. I put that money in a can and that convinced me to always line dry.

Today is the day my new dyer racks arrive. I can't wait to test them out.

I don't have a clothesline, but I have two drying racks that I use. Plus I hang things over doors, and on another clothes rack. The dryer is rough on clothes. That's a good article! I'll have to show it to my dh. He hates it that I don't put the clothes in the dryer. He doesn't like to see the clothes hanging up in the basement.
