Default Electric Rates will be increasing

The national news just did a story that said Electric Rates across the board will be rising. Seems they aren't getting enough money to run things properly. Bull. I am sick of everyone wanting a bigger hunk of my pie.

I hadn't heard this but we were already hit with a $50 fee 2 months ago and the last 2 months we were billed a 17% adjustment fee. It's sickening. My electri bills are already running nearly $300 a month and we aren't using AC or Heat. This week we are supposed to hit 92 degrees! Yikes!

My electric bill was $20 higher this month, and we used 350 less kwh.

They just keep widening the gap don't they? Oil prices rise, gas prices rise, electric prices rise...and pretty soon the average Joe can't afford to pay his bills and support his family. The cost of everything else will go up as these things do so that the guys at the top don't feel the pinch of the increase.

People wonder why I don't read the paper. Everytime you turn around they are raising the gas bill or electric bill. They raised it 10 percent last year and this year they are going to raise it 8 percent and they say this is only the beginning. I am on a very tight budget as it is. Everywhere I go everything is getting higher. For the next two years we get a 4 percent at work but I still won't be ahead. Luckily I can work overtime several times a month. This is only way I will be able to stay ahead. Isn't it ironic that the guy who is ahead of the utility program just received a $10,000 on top of his pay.

My husband gets a 2% cost of living raise for the next two years....what a joke....gas will take that up alone! We are forced to work overtime to get ahead....that's what brought us to Dave Ramsey...we have learned to cut back and save...save...save!

Need to head back to the horse & buggy days. Use that for travel, chop our wood for heat & use candles for light.

Darlene, I agree. It would be better for us all the way around, and good for the enviroment.

Darlene I love your comment: (Need to head back to the horse & buggy days. Use that for travel, chop our wood for heat & use candles for light.)

I know someone who lives by my parents. Actually two people who did this. One guy ripped a whole in his kitchen wall and installed a wood burner. He had it hooked up to his duct system. He then Built a room on the back that is all glass, he and gf hang their laundry there in the winter/ he put bricks in toilet to make it fuller, has a waste basket in the bathroom for when done using. He bought oil lamps and uses them for any lighting. He got rid of his cable and phone service. He does have a cell phone only. He now walks to work or takes the bus. She stays home. They only use the car if they really need to. Summer time they ride their bicycles.
The other guy has been widowed for about 18 years. But I remember him always being frugal. He does have a horse and buggy, he only use oil lamps and also has a wood burner. He rides his bike everyday to work, and I do mean even the winter time. He does own a truck but I have only seen him drive it maybe 10 times.
My neighbor across the street. Built a room on the back of the house and he also installed a wood burner.
So I think some people are rethinking how they are living. All three of these families have huge gardens in the summer also.
