    Default electric bill

I just got my new electric bill and its down only $20 I don't understand I am not using my dryer, or dishwasher, i am wondering what else i can cut, heater has not been on for a month (its gas) but has an electric fan. i have went to florescent light bulbs, have started hanging clothes, not sure where else to cut, have prices went up that much again? it is so frustrating I don't even want to think about the cost when we have to turn on the ac,.....am trying to have a few months of low bills it is not happening.so frustrating.

Sorry to hear about such a little change. Have you checked the price listed on your bill? Does your company do estimates or do they read every month? Also, our bill shows us a comparison of what we used last year (whatever month) and this year. I would look at that and it'll tell you how much prices have gone up. HTH

I would also check your bill or call the power co. to see if their rates went up. Find out how many kwh you used this month compared to the same month last year. That should give you a great idea as to how much less electricity you used. I also got into the habit of reading my meter almost daily at the same time everyday and I write down my findings on my calender on which I also write down how many loads of laundry etc I did so I can compare it. It really gives me an idea as to what I used the day before and how I can possibly lower it.
