    Unhappy Two day countdown :(

I'm taking my modem back to the cable company Friday. I just can't justify $45 a month for pure entertainment. I waste too much time online. I sure am going to miss it tho!!!

I can't see not having cable for my internet. In our family, someone is always online. I too wish it was cheaper though.

I've decided that for just me it's just too much money. I don't have a land-line phone either, so this is pretty much calling it quits on the internet for a while.

I think the Internet is one of the most fantastic things in the world. I wouldn't give it up for anything. Entertainment, news, connection with friends over the miles, knowledge, etc. for the cost of that little wire. I'm willing to pay for it!

I'm with Naderbug on this, I'd give up cable before I gave up the internet.

Hope you can pop in when at the library or something and let us know what's going on in your world. It really is getting so expensive for so many things. You take good care.

The cost is ridiculous but our family uses it for everything. I would give up soemthing else like cable first but I understand and admire your frugalness. Touch in with us again.

Sorry you have to give it up. I can understand, though. I am spoiled on my high speed internet now and if I had to give that up, I'd rather not have ANY internet anymore.

I don't have cable tv or cell phones and I no longer buy magazines, newspapers or books. We even cut out gift giving. All I have left is regular tv and my internet and that is enough to keep me comfortably happy.

Id' even give up a lot of food for my internet! LOL!

I've made a list of all the things I'm going to accomplish while without the internet. All I know is that I spend too much time online stuck in the 'looking for more tips and planning stage'. Maybe just maybe I'll really get things done.

Who knows, maybe they'll offer me a lower price and I'll keep it or maybe I'll be better off financially in the fall and hook it back up then.

This is a really huge step in growing up financially cuz I really am going to feel this budget cut. Oh well....

Good luck! I've debated disconnecting our internet too. We tried the library connection for a week or so, but decided it wasn't any good for me. You can only be on for an hour, and I am on about 2 hours a day. In fact, one thing it pointed out to me was how long I'm on every day! Since then I've decided to try and cut back my time. If I only do boards, I can keep to one hour. But as soon as I start researching something on-line, which is quite a lot, then my time on-line goes up. So I can't really blame the boards for my usage.

Dh and I talked and decided the Internet as resource was far more important to us than the actual communication part of it. For that reason we're keeping it...for now. I must admit, living in a relatively isolated area, we do like the communication end of it too!

We gave up cable after a one year trial that was a gift of dmom. We simply didn't like what was on TV these days. We figure our $30/mth. for internet is less than half the $70/mth. cable bill Mom pays...and we get more out of it.

Good luck, we'll miss you! The internet is vital for us for our communications and to keep up with the miniature horse world for me. I have friends all over the country and I could never afford to keep in touch by phone, the bill would be astronomical!

Well, I broke down and reinstalled my internet. I made it 3 months and that money did help me with affording the graduation/wedding/baby gifts I need to buy over the last couple months. That and the overtime I worked.
I guess I'll just face the fact that I'm hooked and leave it at that.

Congrats! Glad to see you back. I just couldn't do it, I know that for sure. You're much stronger than I am. I have a week spot in my heart for that little cable.
