    Default Wind Energy

NYSEG is offering for $5.00 more a month the opportunity to purchase electricity generated by wind towers. They sing it's virtues in reducing the need for using fossil fuels to create electricity. I'd love to be part of this but wondered what others here thought of wind power. Anyone live near a wind farm???

Yes About 10 miles west of us are 7 big wind towers.
I love to watch them go around and think they are better than the big lines they want to put down through our area to service NYC.
Its time we used Gods given elements to power the earth than ruining good land with high voltage towers.
    JMHO.
We haven't received any deal like that from NYSEG but would love to just put my own windmill out back for our own use.

Wind power is a great source and we hope to put up windmills in the future on our farm, we are set on the side of a valley and have an almost continual wind source, just not the finances for the mills at this time.

I find it strange that they'd want to charge you additional for it, I wish they'd give a DISCOUNT for it instead.

Holly, it's in the latest bill. There's a flyer in with the rest of the papers.

If it is indeed what they say, I will pay the $5 (some things are worth paying for), I just don't want to be guilted into something that isn't what they claim it to be.

We have wind power on PEi, the ones near the towers , some bought years ago. I didint, waited to see if it was more exspensive. Its alot more exspensive here. We suppose to put more towers up this year, hopefully the more towers , less the bill.

We've considered a windmill for home use. I would love to have one, but they are soooo expensive still. I'm hoping that in the near future the price goes down. We live about 45 miles from the first windmill farm in our area. People in that small town sing it's praises.

~48 yr. old sahw, livin' it up in our empty nest, smack dab in the middle of everywhere.~

I often wonder, while driving down the highway and seeing all those old dead windmills. why the country folk got away from it in the first place. We still have the old windmill tower over our old well.
