Electric Rates to Rise In PA
I wish I would have saved the newspaper, but hubby recycled it. Yesterday there was an article about electrical rates. It said electric rates in my area will be going up 20-30%. I dont think it is in the immediate future, more like within the next few years.

If you live in a First Energy coverage area (Met-Ed, Penn Elect) they are requesting a 24% increase starting 1/1/07. Right now they are locked into an agreement with the PUC of no increases until 2010 that was signed several years ago. The electric company says it will be kinder to customers to start now instead of waiting until 2010. I believe they are talking 20-25% each year for the next couple years. Who knows their chance of getting it, but much of the country has already seen large increases in the last year. My bill has slowly crept up in the last few years. Summer is the worst for me as we use a wood burner in the winter. I must go over where I can save, as we use way too many killowatts.
