FIL RANT!

SO, I put the a/c on because obviously it is very hot here, and he keeps leaving doors open, running all the fans, leaving radios on outside while he watches TV inside! So, I said to him "We need to shut things off, so the electric bill won't be too high." HE SAID "How much is your gas bill?" Sarcastically! WE DON'T HAVE A GAS BILL!!!!! He thinks that it doesn't matter how much the electric is because 1. HE DOESN"T give us a dime. and 2. Because up north we had gas and electric bills. OMG I am sooooo mad.

Okay, sorry, just had to get this off of my chest! Thanks for listening! Now, on to the rest of the cleaning!

Ohhh I feel for ya! Tell you what, we'll take your FIL, my MIL and any others that people want to send and send them FARRRRR FARRRR FARRRRR away to an island somewhere! Sound good?

I think I'd be taking radios and hiding them along with the fans and whatever else he likes to keep on. When he asks just tell him it's the utility reduction proclamation and that's how it is.

ORRRR, start chargin' the man for the electricity he uses!

I feel for you...... My grandkids are just as bad......... I have to go behind them and shut everything off........ Makes me want to pull my hair out......

Bax,

I guess I am the only bitch here on the board but why is he getting a free ride?? If he is getting retirement, SSI, or whatever he should be giving you some money.........period......and if he doesn't live by your house rules he should be OUT! Sorry to sound cold and I hope you don't think I am awful for saying this.........But you are doing your best to be frugal and do the right thing and you should be respected for it.

If we're packing hte in-laws off to a deserted island, let me know. I can send my FIL too. Just let me know when to get his stuff into bags!

Pack him up, lol! Actually hubby and I joke if we win the lottery we're going to buy our neighbors little place (we share a lane and it's back over the hill from us, CUTE little house) and going to put high tensile fence with invisible fence and collars and put both our moms back there

I know HORRID but they've both been a bit of a trial recently, lol!

oh I feel for you too. Has your hubby talked to him at all? Maybe that will do something........like get him to shut things off, either that or show him the electric bill when it comes in the mail!

Dh has talked with him, but his dad is the kind of person that knows everything, and no one else knows anything!!!!!!

I'd present him with the electric bill when it comes in. He seems to like in your face stuff, there it will be in black & white.
Then again, it really prob wouldn't phase him...Maybe tripping the breaker in the room he wastes the most electricity

You are a WONDERFUL DIL to have him live with you, feel free to vent anytime you want. My FIL was also a know it all and just visiting would send me into a tizzy for days, lol. I really miss him now (I was the Meathead to his Archie Bunker) but I could have NEVER have lived with him!

Oh Julie, I'm sorry he is being such a ummm stubborn old man about this.

How about making up some post-it type notes and put them EVERYWHERE! If that doesn't get his attention, then I'd ship him off with the other in-laws of the ladies!
