Default Interesting Idea for Saving Water

Alright, I will share this interesting idea, but you have to promise not to laugh!

My hubby told me a story about a kid he knew growing up. When he went to visit this friend, he would help the friend's mom carry leftover water from the bathwater or the rinse water from the dishes & use it in the washing machine.

I thought........ well......... ok........... I guess it wouldn't hurt to try.

So... last night, after my youngest monkey took a bath, I took the water out (about 2 buckets worth) & used it to do a load of laundry.

It worked. Nothing creepy about it, nothing dirty about it..... it just worked.

I also learned that the washing machines have a sensor for the water level, so they will only fill as much as needed til it gets to the sensor.

I have NO idea how much water it saved, but if I make a habit of it, maybe I will see a difference.

so..... your homework for Tuesday, EVERYBODY TAKE A BATH!

    Haha- love the idea.

I don't think it will work in my washing machine, as it is a front loader, but I guess I could dump some water in there and see what happens. DD doesn't take too many baths anymore (she prefers showers) but next time she does, I'll give it a go. If it didn't rain here all the freakin' time, I could use that water in the garden. But alas, my garden is usually drenched lately.

I've done that many times, using bath water for the flowers, etc. The flowers don't seem to mind!

I guess I'm still lucky, my youngest monkey is 3 years old, so he will still be taking a bath for awhile.

DD is only three, also, but she is quite adamant about showers most of the time.
