How much does it cost you to heat your house?
During the winter months? How much does it cost you per month to heat your home?
Just curious. It cost us approx $200 per month from November - March. That is for oil heat I also use oil for my hot water. My electric bill increased though from $40 to around $80 or so with supplementing with space heaters. So total would be around $240 a month.
With the oil prices rising if I am real conservative it might go up to $290 and believe me that is with being conservative.

My natural gas heating in the winter is about $90 to $100 dollars. I tend to turn down the heat to about 15 degree celcius while we are at work and then up to 20 when we are at home. We usually don't turn on the heat until the end of october and then the gas goes off again on may 1. Our house is also quite small. As far as elctricity goes I'm paying about $50 a month but I've noticed lately it's creeping higher. I'll be looking for ways to reduce this back to $50 or lower.

We have natural gas and last winter the high month was almost $400 and I don't even keep it that warm! We unfortunately though have a drafty farm house right on top of a hill and get some wicked winter winds.
But in the summer the gas bill is only $9-$10 a month.
The electric can be up to $140.00 in the winter for the house and barns (heated waterers for the cattle and horses) but down to about $65.00 in the summer.

We have gas heat and water. My level pay is 116.00 month year round. Our house is about 3400 sq. ft. I like the level pay...easier to budget and no huge surprise bills in the winter. They re-evaluate it every year.

Way less than it does to keep it cool! I spent about $85.00 a month because my heat is electric. We leave the t-stat set at about 65. Fortunatly most of our winter monthes don't fall much below that and when it does its at night and we're under warm quilts and in long pj's. We also have a long wall just outside our front door that faces due west. The setting sun heats that wall up and with the frontdoor open it helps keep the house warmer.

During the winter, the only time we need any heat is in the middle of the night, and that is only in about Feb. and March. Our elec. bill is around $55.00 all winter. During the day it gets to be 70 out so we open the windows.!

Julie, lol, don't rub it in....:-(
we are on the budget plan for electric gas all year round.
Electric is $101 a month and gas is $114. I don't know what we use it on, but I suspect that after DD goes back to school and I do some investigating I will find ways to drop that electric bill.

Ours is natural gas & electric on one bill and it's about $400 a month total in the winter time. We keep our thermostat at 59, rarely kicking it up to 63 (usually for a couple of hours in the morning while we are all getting showers & waking up) and we have a woodstove to supplement the heat.
Our power company (National Grid) is REALLY expensive though. Even in the summer, our bill (with no a/c mind you) is nearly $200/month.

Less than $100 a month. If we get a real cold spell it'll be in the $90 range.

I like the winter bills much better, as we mainly heat with wood and coal, so our electric drops from $150 to about $90-100. We have free wood from FIL's acreage already cut and split by DH and sons in March. DH will go for 2 ton of coal shortly and even though that is up, it should be around $250. We have a heat pump and it rarely runs in the winter. We keep the thermostat at 68 unless it's really cold and then it goes down to 66 to keep the electric heat pump off. I really want to get back to trying harder to conserve, as our electric rates may jump 24% come January. I did get a FL washer a month ago, so hot water usage should be slightly less. Have not seen much savings, as the AC has been running nonstop with the recent heat wave.

Just sent the check for pre-buying oil-$2400-averages to about $240 a month. We have our hot water on oil also. I'd love another mild winter. I keep the heat real low until DH comes home from work and at night also. Every little bit helps.
